I don't know the Caps side of the story, but I rarely side with whoever says "No comment"...

Of course "No comment" isn't my style though...

The CBA says it is not a contract until the league approves it, so he will not win if he sues. However, the fact that they help him find a house and then don't sign him, does not make them look good. This is his agent's first deal. Belanger may need to sue his agent, because he will get nothing from the Caps. If his agent sues the Caps, the league will win and then decertify the agent.

I cannot believe that a player named Eric Belanger was available and I didn't read on rumor that he was headed to the Habs.

real quick observation here. when a team is not really as loyal to a player as a player is to a team I dont think situations like this really merit cause for betraying one another.

if its not signed its not an agreement in pro sports anymore. I dont like it (AHEM RICKY FOLEY)

but its a fact now.

They we talking about this on the hockey channel on Sirius yesterday. They said the Caps GM told him/agent in early August that the "supposed" trade, that had to be made before signing him, was not done and did not look too good. If he had another deal they told him to take it. They also told him he could go to camp on a try out basis.
