Both these teams will be in the playoffs, so it's not that big of a deal, however, if my team or any team battling for the playoffs was trailing by one goal going into the 3rd period and the game was considered official, I'd be miffed.

Both teams will be in battles for their divisions and most likely the conference. I'd be miffed if losing home ice throughout or for the 1st round was lost because of a stupid rule like this. Just my opinion, though.

meh. both teams are playing by the same rules, and know it before going in.
