That could be a fine for Wille D (unless it's rescinded)

Craig Simpson can't even get the instigator in a fight correct...

To be fair, following that hit, I'd probably just assume the instigator is a guy coming to his teammate's aid.

Wow, looks like the Canucks in game 3 are just as classy in the Flames in game 2. $50,000 fine seems fair to me.

Sam Bennett, 18 years 303 days.

Also, the thought of a $50k fine...I mean...being able to afford that as a minor inconvenience? More than I make all year.

Are they going to put 3.6 seconds back on the clock? There are still enough players on the bench. :L

Although he'd probably sit for a game for that hit during regular season, I'll be surprised if Porky get's a suspension. It's also not the type of thing you expect from Hamuis, for that matter. Looks like Vancouver will probably cash in their mulligan. Tuesday night will be another dandy!

provies summary better than the canucks as per usual :L

The Canucks were awful. Under pressure, they blew up like an egg in a microwave. You ever see that? It’s surprisingly violent, a scattered mess which generates enough velocity you think said mess is going to tear through the door.

Think 3 and 5 and at their worst, which apparently happens more regularly in playoff games.

At least, in this one, they were not alone.

Vrbata couldn’t generate a thing, and, worse, played soft. So did Bonino.

Alex Edler somehow went from his best game of the season to his worst. It literally was the most Edler thing ever.

Tanev was a mess. The sharp decision maker looked like he was victimized by early onset Alzheimers.

Of all the things that have gone down in three games, and theres’ been a ton, Tanev’s game tonight surprised the most.

The Sedins dominated puck possession, smothered their matchups, but produced few real chances. It was nothing like Game 1.

They have to finish.

All this, and the Canucks were in it. It was 4-2. They had just three fewer shots with seven more shot attempts.

Of course, it felt like 8-2. Because not only did the Canucks get out-scored, they got beat up until they started pushing back in the third period.

It won’t happen again. The Canucks will adjust to the Flames forecheck. They will be better. They have been doing this all year. Why change now?

It does seem unfortunate these adjustments rarely happen during actual games.

I don’t think Alex Burrows is getting suspended even though his name is Alex Burrows.

The instigator rule is rescinded not irregularly for a variety of reasons. Something that happened after Game 2.

An instigator of an altercation shall be a player who by his actions or demeanor demonstrates any/some of the following criteria: distance traveled; gloves off first; first punch thrown; menacing attitude or posture; verbal instigation or threats; conduct in retaliation to a prior game (or season) incident; obvious retribution for a previous incident in the game or season.

What happened tonight was borderline instigator. Burrows had just popped one of the Flames stars with a penalized hit.

Russell, who is trailing the play and sees everything, veers toward Burrows and engages him.

It is reasonable in that situation Burrows is amped up to defend himself. Having to fight after a hit like that is a fairly common course of action in the NHL.

It is unusual an instigator is assessed in this type of scenario.

It’s sound logic that if a player is approaching you after a hit like that, it’s not going to be to say “good game.”

The intent of the auto suspension is to prevent players from sending messages late in games that are out of control.

That’s not what happened here. And Russell not only approached Burrows, he willingly fought him.

thats no certainty lol ... ask Robidas or Kesler if you get suspended for a hit like that during the regular season

it should be a game suspension but it probably wont be (unless the blowhards son in dept. of player safety loses his man crush on Trevor Linden)

probably a fine since Deputy Dan has no suspension history
