Back to tonight's game, the big line for Calgary needs to play better than they did in game 1, and I expect to see Vrbata back with the Sedin boys tonight and Burrows back on the second line with Bonino and Higgins.

I was about to say the same thing for the CAnucks actually. I was listening to the radio guys and they were talking about Vrbata and lack of playoff success. I wasnt aware of it but they are very underwhelming I do expect the Sedins and Burrows to play well tonight. but we really need to see the PP activate as we wont be getting many more PP vs Calgary like we did last game.

The Canuck's problems don't really have anything to do with the forwards or the goalie. It's the defense that is at issue (which I've been saying all year long).

Weber couldn't make the team 2-3 years ago now he's getting big minutes.... Not good he's a one trick pony and is a liability even strength.

Then there is the human turn over machine aka Alex Edler. He's like Jyrki Lumme minus the offensive talent.

I love Kevin Bieksa but let's face it he's lost half a step.

Sbisa has his moments but he too is a turn over machine with even less offensive upside than Edler and it tells you how desperate Canucks management is for d men by his recent contract extension.

Hamhuis is a useful d man but isn't a no 1 guy. He's 2-3 at best.

Tanev is a solid guy but no offensive upside and so he's a 3-4 at best.

The d looked slow and were having trouble dealing with the pressure the Flames put on them all night. This series will be over in 5 I predict.

Re: Jones "high-stick" goal from game 1 - Shorty had a long convo with NHL director of officiating Rob Shick and he also has seen an e-mail with pics of David Jones along the boards standing up and the pic of him touching the puck along the glass. When you compare the two pics, it's not even close, no high stick and the refs got it right.

Isn't it suppose to be cross bar level and not the level of an individual's shoulders? Man St. Louis would get high sticks every game lol and chara never

I thought it was cross-bar level when the puck enters the net, otherwise it's only a high stick if you play the puck above the shoulders.

From the NHL rule book:

72.3
High Stick When a player contacts the puck with his stick above the
normal height of the shoulders
and a teammate elects not to play the
puck to avoid the stoppage of play, and the opposing team also
abstains from playing the puck (perhaps to allow time to expire on a
penalty), the Referee shall stop the play and order the resulting faceoff
at the face-off spot in the zone to nearest to where the play was
stopped for this violation

Listening to TSN1040 Vancouver today, the official song for the Canucks must be the following:

No team in NHL history has lost 8 consecutive playoff home games - Canucks currently sitting at 7

Bieksa listed as a game-time decision (Ryan Stanton pegged to take Kasual Kev's place if #3 can't go).

I thought burrows was one of the better canucks last game
That line was creating a ton of chances. Just needed to finish one or two of them

Even if they got it wrong, it's just too much of a stretch - IMO - to say that had a real outcome on the goal. YMMV, of course.
