Hanrahan looked unhittable today, good to see.

Nice ab for Pedro, he attacked the ball he hit out, something he needs to do much more of.

I don't understand how Pedro can suddenly forget his sloppy swing in favor of the compact swing that puts the ball over the fence.

he's better on the inside pitch.
down the middle, outer half, and offspeed really catch him off balance it seems.

where was the HR pitch?

where was the HR pitch?

It was a changeup, it looked middle, middle.

I watched the replay on MLB.com's Gameday several times..... and element got it right. According to Gameday, the pitch was an 83mph changeup, and from the CF camera, it appeared to be belt high and right over the middle of the plate (maybe an inch or two to the inside of dead center)..... in other words, quite a meatball. The ball hit the exterior retaining wall on the concrete concourse beyond the stands, and that kept it from going into the river.

The pitch Cutch hit off the wall for his game winning "single" looked like a much tougher pitch..... a 91mph sinker, knee high and on the outside corner.

Nice back-to-back thrilling wins.
It's always good to see Philly lose.

I read something about him giving up on a few of the adjustments he'd been making. He's looked better in all of his at bats this season than I expected him to based on Spring Training, so perhaps the "just play" mentality is their next strategy, and if so, I expect to see a lot more of Good Pedro this year.

Alvarez looks ridiculous most of the time when he's swinging. He always looks like he's trying to use his arms to muscle the ball over the fence. The homerun tonight on the other hand had very little arm extension. It was compact, fast. Plenty of power from the hips.

I'd be willing to reverse my 'bust' classification if he'd stick with the compact swing. Don't tap you toe, don't move your hands all over the place.
Just cock, wait for the pitch, explode. Simple simple simple!

Best quote I read about Pedro now, vs Pedro when he was successful is that he doesn't look like he is attacking the ball now, just reacting. When he was going good in the minors, and his first season, he went after a the pitches he wanted.
