This year the run defense will be our Achilles heel. When was the last time you could say that with our secondary play over the past say, 7 seasons?

I think they will be better for sure. But LOL that the poor play from Kennan Robinson and Perry Riley was a result of injuries as the article claimed. A typo (quarterback instead of cornerback) that isn't caught? How does that happen?

We should be able to bring extra guys in the box to stop the run. We finally get the luxury of having two great CB's to make us do this. If Galette and RK are on their game pass rush wise we should be a force.

Does the defense improve?? Maybe. But if it does, I think it comes about by the D-line actually surprising us all. For those that assume we have two great corners, Norman is a FA and we have no idea what Barry is planning to do with him. And lets be honest, if SMGM wasnt here, we would be looking at this as another Snyder move of over paying for a guy who will likely flame out for us.

Another year of breeland now norman then there is fuller and dunbar are pass defense will be better. And are rush defense who cares teams don't run anymore ... how many times has skins got beat by a 40 pass or when a team gets the ball back and scores a touchdown in 3 plays. We will slowely work on running defense but it won't doom us . We will score a lot of points this year we will avg 28 plus per game this year more blitzing

So the Redskins acquire a player who is ranked in the top 15 of all NFL players according to some & you state that at best he is a maybe? Huh? System be damned - a great player will figure out a way to excel. I understand how the history of this team can make all of us somewhat cynical, but you appear to take it to a new level (nothing personal against you but cmon can't you be at least a little positive about things).

The fact of the matter is that SM made the signing - not Snyder - and that makes a huge difference. Sure you have to build primarily via the draft, but it also makes sense to occasionally sign a top flight FA in his prime. HTTR.

Don't forget about our schedule. This is a huge factor when discussing our Def. We play three straight road games, one of which is on a short week Thanksgiving vs the Cowboys. We have the Cardinals, Panthers, PIT, MIN, Balitmore, Cincinnati and GB. At 4 of them are at home. Nevertheless or Def especailly the Run def will be under immense pressure. JB play a rush 4 drop 7, he will not blitz alot. He also does not have the interior linemen for his scheme. Throw in a very differcult schedule and YES!!!!!! I am VERY CONCERN.

The Redskins have signed free agents ranked in the top five at their respective positions before. Haynesworth, Sanders, Trotter come to mind. New system, huge contract and huge expectations came with all three. Dont get me wrong, I hope he does excel and actually proves to be better than the system around him. But truth of it is, if this defense is to IMPROVE which was the original question... its going to come from the line improving first and foremost. If the run game improves on offense, and we can stop the run on defense, then I see a defensive improvement. If not, then bottom ten is about where I expect us to finish defensively.

Can't argue that too much at all

I can argue this. Shark, we have upgrades at the two most important positions on defense. Pass rush and CB. Norman was always on a island in Carolina so nothing is going to change when he comes here. Galette and Norman alone put this defense to at least the middle of the pack. How can you compare Sanders to Norman when Sanders was way pass his prime when we signed him. Norman is arguably the best man CB in the league. haynesworh and Trotter(DT and ILb) did not play impact positions that can change a defense like a CB and pass rusher can.

Now KC has crazy weapons in the passing game. Even if the running game doesn't improve which I think it will we should expect the same results as last year. Way too much talent at WR/TE to fail this year. If KC can distribute the ball with no problem with having Ribeye and Long blocking for him why shouldn't this year be any different. Add hopefully a 16 game season for Jackson and Jones and I think we have a very powerful offense.

You guys are way too negative this year. On paper this is one of the most talented teams the Redskins ever had in last 20 years. Now we just have to prove it an kick ass and we will be the talk of the nation not the Cowboys.

Not negative ,our history of late warrants concerns . Some things will work , some will not

Shark already is going negative on Norman.

Dude, we just committed $50 million guaranteed of a $75 million dollar contract because the team didnt have the patience to see if a guy we spent a second round pick on could actually improve. Sure its great to have Norman.. he is the big ticket item that keeps Dan Snyder happy. But he hasnt taken a single snap for us, he is switching systems and responsibilities. So forgive me if Im not penciling him as Defensive player of the Century just yet.

You cant say anything about switching systems right now b/c we all don't know how he is going to be used. What we know so far is that JN is going to follow the #1Wr all over the field like it should be. All of his highlights I have seen from last year have him one on one with the WR and making plays. Never seen him get safety help. Plus he is a very good tackler.

This is one of the best FA signings in the NFL this year. By signing JN it should mean that we should win the division and also help out our run defense b/c we should be able to bring a extra guy in the box. Without this signing there would have been a hole at CB#2. Fuller is just a rookie and #47 looks promising but we are a hell of a lot stronger at one of the most important positions on defense.

There is no doubt in my mind that Carolina is going to be a lot weaker on defense this year. I don't even think they replaced Norman. I know they drafted a couple rookies but they were in the later rounds. Are you really comparing Amerson to Norman? If Amerson was so great why did they get Smith in FA? Plus they payed big money for Smith. There was no reason to give Amerson that deal right now. He had a solid season but they could of taken the wait and see approach.

duke injured 2 years
hayward same as above
JR didnt play a down with us
PT did well in limited action
Pot roast avg
dashon golston bust
jeron johnson bust
chrus culliver injured
danny hopkins great
jason hatcher bust
andre roberts bust
shawn lavaou injured

so i like norman but it could be a mistake too just saying

IMO the Norman signing puts us over the top from an average team to an above average team. IF we didn't have him on our team our defense would be looking a lot worst. His sigining alone improves our run defense. Please tell me you guys see that.

you confuse seeing "that " and it actually happening . on paper it looks nice but the execution needs to happen and if you are truly "planning" our season you have to factor in stuff that doesnt work out right

Of course if there is an injury. Look at all the hype Dallas is getting. We have plenty to be hyped about.
