Looks like Rupp is following in Ruffs footsteps with a sudden power output. He is 3 for 7 with 3 homeruns and 6 rbis. Pitchers have already walked him 5 times. Has he been eating Wheaties or is this the real thing. Wouldn't mind seeing Ruff and Rupp in the future Phillies lineup.

Rupp and Ruiz are the perfect blend of catching depth for the Phillies. Carlos could play like 110 games and Rupp 52. We could use his power instead of putting weak hitting Nieves in the lineup. He had a great spring training.

Yeah, he looks like he has real potential as a good offensive catcher in the majors. If he hits all year at Lehigh he should be on the Phillies next year. Even with Ruiz having a couple year contract, the fact is even when he's going great he will probably only play 110 games or something. There is no law that says your backup catcher has to be a guy who can't hit. It would be great to have two good hitting catchers so if Ruiz declines Rupp can just take over more starts.

Yeah, you beat me to it. I started typing then drank a coffee and you had already posted this. I was gearing toward next year, but yeah maybe they could just bring him up this season.

The only thing about keeping him at Lehigh longer is maybe they could give him some work at first base or left field as well in case he turns into a hitter that is too good to keep out of the lineup every day.

So, Ruppe has only tried in three out of 7 at-bats. Must have had mental rust in the other 4 at-bats.

Ruppe and Ruff could be Hall of Famers if they weren't so concerned with money.

Money shouldn't be a deterrent number one, seeing the consistent evidence of Amaro throwing money at old, used-up players with regularity. No they'll be HOFers if they are called up and inserted in the line-up ASAP and on a regular basis and not being quarantined on a farm club like they have some sort of disease.

Actually it's Rupp. Rust only applies to Burnett. Rupp has 12 plate appearances with 5 walks and 3 homers. I think that is trying!

Damn, so I guess you and Caligula are deadlocked at 1 on name spelling errors.

Holy Shit he went yard again tonight. Bring him up now, cut Nieves and keep Ruiz around and let him be Hammels' personal catcher, like Tim McCarver

It just ended. He went 1-3 with a HR and a walk and his OPS went down

I hope he keeps it up. But even if he does Amaro will find scouts who knock him. Youth is not allowed to prevail while there are still aging and fading options to sign.
