I would imagine OLB. Early reports sound like that as well.

As a UVa fan, I can tell you the effort is there. When he is on the field, his motor is non-stop. The sickle cell trait does effect his energy level, so he can usually only play 3 out of every 4 downs.

ok so PS at first, then maybe that situational pass rusher later? so at best case down the road, he'd be the last back-up on game days but come in to rush on obvious passind downs?

I guess that means he won't be playing in Denver. Wasn't sickle cell the reason why that starter for the Steelers nearly died after a game and sat out the playoff game in Denver last year?

Might be pretty tough for him to make the team when he has to sit out one of the preseason games for his own safety.

Clark played every down for the Steelers. This guy will not play every down for us. The doctors cleared Clark to play but the team thought that it was a bad idea. I am not an expert on this in anyway but it was my understanding that the thin air causes problems for people with sickle cell. I don't see him missing time because of it unless he becomes an every down player for us. As long as he is cleared by doctors and is a situational player for the niners.

Hmmm.... I was kind of hoping he'd be a smaller DE prospect. He's a late 7th round pick, so he might not make the team anyway.

just from what we read, looks like his only chance is to show pass rush ability? he doesn't need to become a 'demon' ASAP, but enough flashes to stick on the PS.

correct, most 7th rounders don't make it so we have to be reasonable.

If that's the case Cam better shed about 10-15 pounds because he's not a great pass rusher at his weight.

I do too. Would've rather had Trevor Guyton, but Cam in the 7th was about as good as it's gonnna get IMO.
