A 41 year old singles hitter that's probably no longer on steroids. Thanks but no thanks.
No he wouldn't. We don't have that issue.
Do you sell out every night?

Agreed.I'd rather see what Butler has, Manny has no future with this club, why waste time on him in the present?
He'd sell tickets.

No, but Manny has proven to be a HOF who's way out of his prime, so why not give him a chance? I kinda just love Manny so I'm bias. If it was any other washed up DH I'd say no, but it's Manny. I just wanna see him play again tbh.
The team is giving itself a "shot in the arm", having won six of seven, including two of three in Oakland. Also think that getting Garza, along with Darvish and Ogando back from the DL, were "shots in the arm".
We have a good chance to make up some ground in the standings this week. We are not desperate.

That's all we need.
Another guy that Selig can suspend for 50 games.
No thanks.
I really don't get signing the guy to a minor league deal in the 1st place. All he could ever help the team with, even maybe, would be DH

I originally thought that adding Manny might not be too bad an idea but the LAA game last night opened my eyes about how the Rangers plan to play the balance of this season and maybe next season too. Manny on base equals no running and that is not how they currently want to play. The Rangers intend to emphasize pitching and speed. It will be interesting to see how that plays out as the season progresses.Signing him to a minor league deal and holding onto him through August means nobody else has him either. So his contract is effectively insurance to keep him from playing for someone else.
Could TEX use a 1-dimensional DH to replace Berkman? Maybe. But I think TEX would prefer carrying the extra position player who is fully capable of starting every night. Combining the UIF and extra outfielder spots into two legit everyday players opens up more opportunity to DH and rest the regulars.
