I'm not going to get too upset about a running back playing corner making mistakes. IMO it's a reflection of player development that they could recruit a JuCo RB, redshirt him, try him at RB, THEN move him to corner and he winds up being a starter.
Our players aren't very good.
We definitely aren't as bad as you make it seem. Orr is playing really well, Hansen is just making absurd catches. Their QB is putting the ball on the money and most of the time we can't do anything about it.
We have a new QB that is a Sophmore, our 'star' Running back is out with a knee injury, and we aren't able to move the ball....
All that and we are down only 14. I'll take that all day long.
My point was it's telling that Gump is anything besides a punt runner and maybe nickel guy instead of a starter with minimal time spent at the position. Orr is playing pretty well, I agree. I'm more concerned with the defensive line and that the team has just look generally out-manned and out-talented.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but this game seems like it should be a Cal blowout. Obviously, I hope it turns around, but something major has to change.
