aside from the garbage hit, it was quite the night of firsts

Frank Corrado - 1st NHL goal
Mike Zalewski - 1st NHL point
Johnny Gaudreau - 1st goal (and point). he looked terrific in the 1st - great playmaker

Late to the party (just got back to Burnaby) and saw the youtube video of the hit, first of all, I hope Daniel will be okay and it was a hit in the danger area on a star player by a nobody. The onus of responsibility falls on Byron, but in my opinion Daniel did put himself in a vulnerable position. Wouldn't be surprised to see Byron get suspended for a couple of games.

It never did flip into mayhem, but it was feared in Rogers Arena. While Daniel was on the ice, Bob Hartley was chewing out the refs for giving Byron a penalty even though neither had called it one in real time.

In a quieted arena, his was the only voice you could hear.

Hartley was yelling about a penalty in a mean nothing game. He was doing it with a team’s star lying motionless on the ice.

There are times to be worried about a match penalty and times not to be worried. Tonight was the latter. The lack of compassion impacted Henrik emotionally, among others on that bench, and it’s one of the reasons he left the ice.

The refs explained to Hartley they didn’t think it was a penalty but they were within their right to consult the linesmen.

Hartley was furious still. He then wanted the Canucks assessed a two-minute penalty for having multiple players in the Byron melee following the hit.

There was then concern all of this was going to set off Mt. Torts again. He was as enraged as he was in mid-January, though he did feel some vindication that players were seeing how dark and cold Hartley can be.

Following up on the Byron-Sedin hit last night. There will be no further discipline from the NHL. Penalty on the ice was viewed enough.

On the one hand, I'm surprised, but on the other, I guess I'm not.

Edit: Again, just happy to hear that Daniel sounds like he'll be okay.

Byron said he reached out to D Sedin via text and Sedin responded w appreciation. Byron said he's glad Daniel is OK and had no ill intent

Also, Giordano reached out to Henrik last night to ask about the status of Daniel.

Nice work Byron well done

:thumb:

Game 82 yep that was needed

notice my calm

For those that didn't see it it Byron hammered Daniel Sedin from behind into the boards and Daniel is being taken off on a stretcher

I didnt even hate

He was moving his hands and fingers and it didn't look like his neck got damaged so I'm hoping the stretcher was precautionary.

I was just concerned for daniel

I disagree jstew the nhl will suspend him for the remainder of this years playoffs.

I didnt call Byron a cheap see you next tuesday or anything and this was our best player getting pancaked into the boards from behind

and to add

fucking burrows
