On the one hand, Flames don't make the playoffs with Elliott playing very well down the stretch. On the other hand, he hasn't been good in these first three games. Where are I'm going with this? Not sure, only that if the Flames are looking to re-sign Elliott (50/50 proposition in my opinion), I think you can only bring him back on a show-me 1 year deal at this point.

I don't believe Stajan is hurt, but he's been pretty meh this series. Might as well get some younger, fresher legs into the mix at this point.

That is Brian Elliott to a T, as far as I'm concerned. Capable of really good play for a month but certainly not for a full season.

To me he's at best a platoon goalie, where you ride the hot hand between two goalies. NHL coaches don't seem to do that much any more. So really Elliott is a top 5 backup in the NHL. If the Flames are going to re-sign him it should be to a backup's contract.
