but the right call IMO in firing Caldwell... i know losing Peyton is a big deal but the team flat out stunk and Peyton does not play all 3 areas of the game.

Damn! Not only would it piss me off if we lost him, i dont want to hear the distraction to Roman during our run here. Anybody think Gregg Williams was distracted?

If Roman leaves...promote from within? I'm sad at the prospect.

maybe promote geep?? apparently the call that led to the winning TD was his suggestion...

If anyone targets Roman over the Saints OC (who did a great job taking over when Payton was injured), or the Packers OC... they don't deserve to be a GM. Those two guys were responsible for some of the most explosive offenses in NFL history, all Roman did was be better than Jimmy Raye and Mike Johnson. How can someone with such a bad record in the redzone be targeted over those two guys... just shake my fucking head...

By the way; new GM, new HC, owner has said they will draft Luck. It seems like they are setting themselves up to completely start fresh, this much change usually signals the end of the (soon to be)36 year old injured QB too.

Didn't he turn down the Penn State job because he liked his situation on the 49ers?

Unless Caldwell was too comfortable with his job, this is indirect evidence that coaches don't tank seasons. Players want to max out their contracts, so they won't try to lose, but maybe they try to up their stats more than usual knowing that they don't have a playoff chance? (Especially if they play the position that they are supposedly supposed to tank for - you know, to better their FA prospects) or just try to win enough to have their replacement be too much of a reach? Either way, the players are trying for something and it isn't for the draft.
