There's a game in March that I'd like to see: Rangers @ Bruins on the 28th. (I came up with this idea on the fly yesterday. I was going to treat myself for the week before, but I'm going to treat my mother as well with a game that we can both go to; it's probably going to be better than heading to anywhere by myself. Will be more fun this way.)

I'm planning on getting the tickets as early as I can, in order to get something good and legit. That time-frame is around early-October, when I get my leftover financial aid money for the fall semester. Is that "too early" for me? Do I want to wait until I get whatever's left over for the spring semester and chance it with whatever might be left for seats?

And I've read around the internet a few times, hearing about how Ticketmaster is ugly. Would that be my best bet, even though I'm probably going to be charged big time?

You guys are awesome if you answer this. Thanks in advance.

I think if you get tickets as early as possible you can get the seats you want - maybe you have to pay a little more $ but it's better to get them now and let's say a few months later maybe you figure out you can't go, you can always re-sell them - that's why it's good to get them as soon as possible

I will never, ever give Ticketmaster another nickle of my money.

For MLB I buy all my tickets for the entire season at the box office at the first game I go to.

Is going to the stadium box office too inconvenient?

I live in CT, about two hours away. I have no way of getting there on any typical day.

EDIT: There's apparently a box office about a few towns away from where I am. (It's in a mall.) That's Ticketmaster, but it would give me Bruins tickets. Would probably be my best bet.

I just wait until a day before or the day of and buy them off Ace Ticket. Then just pick them up across the street from the Garden.

edit: I'm in CT as well.

If all else fails, check out StubHub, TicketLiquidator and whatever other resale sites you can find, try and get the best deal possible.

I second Nasty here and others. I would NOT recommend Ticket Master. But I have had decent success with Stub Hub and gettting Flyers tickets.

StubHub has always been good to me. That and the season ticket holder resale (although that's through TicketMaster).

I used to buy Lakers, Padres and Chargers tickets on eBay all the time but have no idea how it is now.

StubHub bought it out somehow...like if you go on EBay and search tickets it takes you to a StubHub page.

Thanks for the info, guys.

My mother and I had a site we used for tickets that we got for events a week or two before (we managed to get three seats for NASCAR roughly a week before the 500 in '06, for example), but we hadn't used the site in years, so we're not sure of the name. Never had a problem with the site. I wish I had the name in front of my face.

When will people start putting up tickets on the resale sites? As soon as they get the tickets?

Just keep popping back, as the season approaches and people sort out schedules things games will start popping up for sale

eBay owns stub hub

You can call the team box office and talk to them. They will have tickets and might have a promo deal for that day. Free soda or parking. Most likely not but you won't be paying ticket master, it might save you 5/10 bucks

(1) StubHub generally has some good deals depending on how you time it. I never pay anything close to box price there, but the more flexible you can be about which game you go to the more it helps. I've personally done much better on StubHub, and while eBay has deals too, it's much easier to compare tickets from the same section/price range on StubHub.

(2) Also, keep an eye on Craigslist right around the time that they send the tickets to your season ticket holders (a few Google searches or looking on your team's may tell you when this time is). A lot of season ticket holders buy the season planning to keep 5-10 games and sell the rest. Since this can cost $1000s a lot of them will post ads when the ticket arrive to pay down their credit card. Some offer discounts, especially if you're willing to buy several tickets. Since these tend to all hit Craigslist/eBay at around the same time, it can be a buyer's market. I've done really well with this during a couple seasons.

Good luck! Hope it works out.
