This is amazing.

Despite getting only one inning to date from their expected Nos. 1-2 pitchers this season, the Rangers go into Sunday with a chance to match the franchise record for most consecutive quality starts. Colby Lewis’ seven-inning, three-run outing on Saturday extended the club’s streak of quality starts to nine. The record of 10 was set in 1978 by a rotation that featured Hall of Famer Ferguson Jenkins.

The guys in this stretch include a rookie making his second and third major league starts, a guy with a reconstructed hip socket and a guy who was released by the Atlanta Braves at the end of spring training.

But it also shows how well we've done while capturing some lightening which is unsustainable long term.

Maddux is a freakin' wizard.

He sure seems to make a lot of chicken salad doesn't he?

But going forward, if we don't get some help, either in the form of a ML ready Harrison, or Holland, or Perez, I think this staff has a great chance of imploding.

I don't expect much from Perez, for a while anyway. Like he'll need 5+ starts to get going, and maybe more. And I am excited about the potential of Harry's return, it sure is tempered by the harsh reality of what's happened to the man. Lastly, I'm concerned about Holland, more than you I suspect.

Rangers shut down Martin Perez's rehab

Rangers pitcher Martin Perez suffered a groin injury during his minor league rehab start on Wednesday, per the Dallas Morning News.

Perez was scheduled to throw batting practice on Saturday and return to the mound for a second rehab game on Monday. Instead, he'll be shut down for about a week.

Perez is on the disabled list with an elbow injury.

Looks like this will likely push Perez back another couple weeks at least

Rangers 3B Joey Gallo homers, walks three times on Saturday

Rangers rookie third baseman Joey Gallocontinued his hot hitting to begin his career. On Saturday, Gallo connected for his third home run of the season, an estimated 471-foot blast, in the 11-7 win over the Twins.

"What he can do is pretty special," first baseman Mitch Moreland said, per MLB.com. "He's strong and has great leverage. It seems like every time he hits one, you want to be there to watch it."

The home run was his only hit of the game, but he drew a career-high three walks and scored twice, as he upped his batting average to .306. Gallo has been held hitless in just two of his first 10 games.

This is great to see, though I didn't actually get to see it

Rangers' Josh Hamilton still feels soreness

Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton said that the tightness in his hamstring is gone, but he still feels soreness, per the Star Telegram.

The Dallas Morning News reported that Hamilton isn't swinging a bat yet, but he's able to run on a treadmill.

The hamstring landed him on the disabled list two weeks ago.

As expected, Josh might play in 30% of the games. He's contributed so far. but you cant count on the guy to stay in the lineup. Hope he's available if this team does indeed make run at the division or a WC spot

Rangers SP Chi Chi Gonzalez takes loss in solid performance

Starting pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez was not the reason the Rangers lost 7-0 to the Athletics on Thursday.

Gonzalez threw seven innings, allowed eight hits and just one earned run. He struck out four batters, but his command was shaky as he walked three as well.

Gonzalez (2-1) picked up his first loss of the season, though it was his bullpen that got roughed up for six runs in the eighth inning. He has a 0.42 ERA with eight strikeouts and 10 walks in 21 2/3 innings this season.

Happy Chi Chi has performed this well, so far.

This just in, the bullpen is very difficult to put much faith in. Well thats just sugar coating it, they pretty much suck aside from a couple guys out there. Oh well hope they perform just well enough, or we find a couple replacements

I hate day games. Not a big fan of the June schedule for the Rangers.

Yes, but at $2 million a year I'm far less aggravated. Hopefully he and Beltre will be back in July.

Dont look at the July schedule then, not as many day games but we get the Angels for 2 series and the Yankees for 4 games

hopefully value is good for games played, based on $ vs production it looks like we should get our money's worth

$2 million is certainly better than what he could be getting paid to sit out games
