Redskins Recent Drafts Boost Talent Level
the first part of this article is really interesting , here are the stats
60% of all NFL starters are drafted in the 1st 3 rounds we have failed in the past because we didnt have these picks (excluding 1st rounders ) and when we did we chose poorly
the RG3 trade cost us potentially 4 high end starters which is one reason i opposed the trade . true i backed Rg3 when the deed was done and defended him until you simply couldnt anymore but that trade was the epitome of frustration for the fans .
26% of starters in the NFL are from rounds 4-7 . now a lot of people ask why do we stock up on late round picks or dismiss that in a trade . the fact is you have a chance to draft 1 guy out of those rounds who develops into a starter within 4 years
14% of all nfl starters are UDRFA's . so some of the hype about our rookie FA's is justified . 1 in 10 a year could develop into a starter
in fact a UDRFA has a better chance the a 4th rounder 11% , 5th 6.5% . 6th 6% 7th 4%
now what SMGM has done as well is what most of us here have advocated . he has been thrifty in FA avoiding FA's over age 28 to big contracts . most are very well priced , below 28 (some are older but not so much )
this is why we should have some hope around here , this team in a few years could be among the best if we are patient
