You win as a team, lose as a team.

Team USA just didn't have the legs today. Maybe they peaked too early.

Oh ya, no question. The US wasn't going to win that game today regardless of how any individual played. As a team that were badly outplayed. I was just saying Kane had an especially tough time.

It's really tough for North American teams to get motivated for bronze medal games. I've seen Team Canada put in a lot of clunkers over the years at the World Hockey Championships as well as the 1998 Olympics in Nagano. Finland is "used" for lack of a better word to playing in bronze medal games and they wanted it for Teemu today.

BBC: The players didn't want to do this for Selanne; Selanne wanted to do this for his country.

What a fucking embarrassment. Playing for an olympic medal and you put forth that kind of effort. hundreds of athletes in Sochi would kill for a bronze medal. Top on down, pathetic!

It's definitely that Stanley Cup mentality (remember the 1998 Bronze against Finland?), where they check out because they invested so much into the previous day's game. In a way, I understand. But if a team has the right leaders and coaches in the room, I don't know that this should happen. We all know Marc Crawford wasn't going to be that coach in 1998. I didn't think Dan Bylsma would be in that boat though.

PDO useless over a short tourney no?
I thought that was one of the basic premises.
anyone who quotes PDA should know that.

goalies get hot, shooters get cold. not sustainable over full season (minnesota, toronto)
but certainly is over a week or two.
