You take what you can get. Good prospect, but beware of Belichek's bearing gifts.

He does have what Fangio likes - the ability to play Safety or CB.

Anyone know if he could have been brought in to help special teams? Really a low cost if he is able to contribute.

He’s still really young with it only being his second year and he does have versatility, he’s definitely worth what we gave up to get him so I’m not too mad at this.

Now hopefully we can find a good MLB.

This is not odd at all. We basically have four cornerbacks worthy of a roster spot. I expected a CB added.

Love Duke Dawson. Fantastic CB at Florida. (Go Gators)

This news blew up my phone and made my day.

Adding a CB doesn't bother me but it did seem odd we spent draft capital when we could have potentially used that capital to trade for an ILB.

Considering we gave up a seventh round pick not at all. As a GM you try to improve your team. Why would you not give up a 7th for a good young player you think can help you tell to hoard it hoping for a LB. we have enough 7 round caliber LB’s on the team. We need something better at that position. Dawson provides depth with good upside. He fits our system better than he did New England’s.

We gave up a 6th, but hoping he is great fit here. I also read that he is expected to be a core special team contributor. I hope so. Our special teams are really not so special.

But we got a 7th in return. We moved down in the 6th.

I’m happy to see him have a shot in Denver for a bag of marbles. Loved him at Florida.

You are forgetting Bronco history JD - the further the Broncos get away from the 1st round of picks - the better judge of talent they become. Therefore - trading a 6th round slot for a 7th rounder was an improvement in draft position. :)

I have to laugh - Fangio is putting this team together like the baseball team in Major Leagues.

Duke Dawson may be a pinch hitter this year but he may bat leadoff the following. ;)

Could Duke Dawson be the Chris Harris replacement? Maybe not in ability but on the roster?

Duke Dawson was an excellent 2nd round pick when the Patriots picked him.
Torn hamstring made him unavailable and now not ready.
Rolling the dice on a guy that we regarded highly is a good roll in my opinion.
If he regains his form you have a 2nd rounder for a 6th.
Keep in mind he could not (currently) find a spot on the best secondary in football.

I don't think he is PS squad material - be patient and you may have a star on your hands.....
