Bronco's Tight End Room

All the great Bronco's teams of the past had a great TE - Riley Odems - Shannon Sharpe - even guys like Carswell, Tony Scheffler, Julius Thomas, Daniel Graham and Byron Chamberlain have distinguished themselves as Bronco TEs.

Seemingly from out of no where - based on recent TE use by the Broncos - the TE position is stacked with guys who can succeed. The TE position is perhaps the most competitive position in training camp.

Fant - amazing athlete - and possible game changer.

Butt - It is hard to imagine him coming back from the series of injuries he has had, Butt....

Fumilgali - He's Italian - that fits a theme - probably the best all around blocking receiving TE on the roster.

Heuerman - If last year was a preview of what's to come - a healthy Heuerman would be a weapon.

Bug Howard - The Broncos were fawning over this guy a month ago.

Austin Fort - He is a Noah Fant clone in speed and athleticism - he has a clear path - at least to the practice squad.

The Broncos will have to throw these guys some balls in pre-season - or they will never figure out who to keep. Just seeing the Broncos use the TE as a consistent weapon is exciting to me.

The Broncos start Training camp on 7/18 because they play in the Hall of Fame game. The actual Hall of Fame game is on 8/1.

Heuerman and Fant both make the team. Fumigali is a question mark but could be on the 53 or PS. I'm afraid Jake Butt gets traded or cut, unless he has an AMAZING camp. We've got two fullbacks now too and from what I hear, Aston can really catch the ball out of the backfield and of course, he can plow people over. Throw in Jano and the TE/Fullback competition may be the most watched group this camp.

He loves the TE's and RB's that can catch....And just when the D gets used to it, he drops a 70 yard bomb on them...He's gonna have a good year in Denver and probably beyond....Elway likes that system and is ordering up a Flacco Special, it looks like to me...

I would actually say Maxx Williams was a letdown for what he showed in college and his draft grade. He should have been much better. Pitta was productive. Boyles has 75 career catches and 0 career touchdowns in 4 NFL seasons. More of a blocking TE then a receiving TE.

Williams has 63 catches and 3 touchdowns in 4 seasons as a 2nd round pick and has since signed with the Cardinals as the Ravens let him walk. TE has been an issue since Pitta retired. Not blaming that on Flacco either because he did use Pitta very well, just not sure I would say Boyle and Williams were "serviceable" because of Flacco. Boyle isn't really in the NFL to catch the ball. He is a solid blocker.

There is already talk of Austin Fort making the 53 man roster.

It's amazing to me that the Broncos go from street FAs to play TE in a game - to 6 roster making TEs with talent in a year's time.
