Klis reports that there are currently six candidates that we are interested in, though there could be more forthcoming.

Gary Kubiak among six candidates on Broncos' coaching search list - The Denver Post

Excerpt:
"The Broncos are that team looking to replace coach John Fox. Early candidates on the Broncos' list, according to two NFL sources: Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, Ravens' quarterbacks coach Rick Dennison, Detroit Lions' defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

The Broncos also are considering their own offensive coordinator Adam Gase and defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio if they don't land head coaching jobs in San Francisco and Oakland, respectively."

Schefter is saying Raiders and Del Rio are all but done. So we dodged that bullet.

I like Kubiak and Quinn. Teryl Austin could be interesting. We could be the last team holding out for Quinn after the SB.

Should Denver make the decision to hire Austin, does that lead to the team bringing in NDonkeyKong Suh and possibly letting Knighton walk? I like the nastiness that he brings to the table, I just don't care of the antics that lead to fines and suspensions.

I'd also hope that the idea of hiring Del Rio is just lip service? I can't imagine that Elway could be thrilled with the way the defense played at times this year.

I wouldn't mind Kubiak, Quinn, or Austin. Honestly I was very impressed with the defense that Austin brought together in Detroit considering other than Suh they really didn't have any big name players yet they played amazingly most of the year. Quinn obviously has done an amazing job and I think he would know better how to use our Corners to be successful compared to what we saw this year. I hated seeing Talib playing off-man or off-zone. He just never looked that comfortable. Plus in this last game I thought it made more sense to have Chris Harris on Hilton compared to Talib. Talib is better for the big physical receivers but just can't quite handle the quick guys.

Kubiak obviously has the connection with Elway and honestly I think his offense fits perfectly with the type of player that Osweiler is. He doesn't fit as well with Manning obviously as the naked bootleg is not quite his forte but if we are thinking beyond next year if Manning returns I think Kubiak makes a lot of sense.

I honestly can't see either Gase or Del Rio being our coach. Elway just got done saying it seemed like our players at times this year played uninspired so then to hire coaches who were a part of all that just doesn't make much sense. Gase makes a little sense if Manning comes back so he doesn't have to learn a whole new offense plus he and Gase get along so well but beyond that I just can't see either of those guys coming back.

I'd love to have Kubiak reunion, but I have a feeling Elway is going to push hard to get Quinn.

Possibly along with ATL...word is down here, he was the best interview between Maronne, Ryan, Bowles, and Gase...They liked Ryan a lot but apparently he wanted more personnel power than Blank was willing to offer and Bowles just took the Jets job.

I would love Quinn being the new HC in Denver. He seems to have a bit more fire as a Defensive guy. That was my one major complaint with Fox is he just seemed to be too even. He just never seemed to have much fire about him and it seemed like our team took on that personality. Quinn's defenses though seem to play with an edge about them that only a handful of teams play with. Need that in this defense.

I read that Blank was really interested in McDaniels.

LOL.....

Anybody see on the Yahoo homepage......it says "Gary Kubiak to be named Denver Broncos head coach", but the link is dead. Shows from SB Nation.

Don't tease me dudes.....and even still......that'd be so super quick after just the beginning of all speculation of candidates.

That could be true, but seems to go against the grain...mostly DEF guys have interviewed here aside from Gase.

The McDaniels rumor persists because Dimitroff was retained as GM

It would actually be illegal for the Broncos to do with the Rooney rule I think it is. I think they have to bring in one minority coach for an interview and considering they haven't interview anybody yet in an official way then the Broncos would be in some major trouble with the league.

Would be interesting to find out the specifics. After all, there wasn't anything reported of any minority candidates before Ryan was hired by the Bills.

Now there ARE reports that Del Rio and Gase are both headed to the Bay Area. Del Rio with Oakland, and Gase with SFO.

I forgot about the Falcons. It is being reported that Quinn really wants to be with them so we might never have a shot.

I think the Del Rio and Gase offers were to help those guys. It does not look good if your team refuses to interview you for a HC position. Other teams might begin to shy away. If that were the case it tells me the parting of ways leaves no bad blood.

The Bills wanted to interview both Hue Jackson and Teryl Austin.

Looks like Jackson was their Rooney Rule interview. I imagine Austin could be our Rooney interview then. Although looks like Atlanta is giving him a second interview.

RR might be the only reason it hasn't been officially announced...Kubiak said last week he was staying in BAL...now that talk has been squashed...Elway will get his man.
