Broncos RB Mike Boone is a healthy scratch for Week 7 against the Browns.
Boone is a healthy scratch after being activated from injured reserve five days ago. It speaks to Denver's confidence in Melvin Gordon's health. Joining Boone on the shelf are QB Brett Rypien, CB Kary Vincent Jr., S Jamar Johnson, OT Cameron Fleming, LB Baron Browning and OLB Aaron Patrick.
Browns RT Jack Conklin (knee) is inactive for Week 7 against the Broncos.
LT Jedrick Wills will try to give it a go through his ankle injury. It is hardly an ideal setup for No. 2 QB Case Keenum, though it is better than if both tackles were sidelined. Joining Conklin on the shelf are QB Baker Mayfield, RB Nick Chubb, CB A.J. Green, DE Ifeadi Odenigbo and OG Hjalte Froholdt.
FOX's Jay Glazer reports Baker Mayfield is also dealing with a fractured in his injured non-throwing shoulder.
You can see why Mayfield was not able to "tough" through this one. Per Glazer, the break is to Mayfield's "humerus bone," and it is "preventing his rotator cuff from firing." Yikes. “I need that fracture to heal for me to get back out there,” Mayfield told Glazer. This doesn't sound like something that is going to be feeling a whole lot better in 10 days time when the Browns host the Steelers, though it is notable that Mayfield is not on injured reserve. He would already be there if the Browns thought he would miss three-plus games. He should be considered genuinely week to week.
