LOL. If Frank Kaminsky "doesn't play d,"* it's because he is overly conservative and gives up two points instead of committing a foul. Again, you are guaranteeing that that a guy who fouls 1.6 times per game will foul out. It's hilarious.

*Frank Kaminsky is statistically one of the best 30 defenders in the country. He does get backed over a lot for baskets (largely because he and our team are foul-averse), but he forces a bunch of turnovers and he has one of the highest defensive rebound percentages in the country. So actually, Frank "does play d." That type of defense can be exposed, but he's far from the sieve that Notre Dame's big men are.
how many times has a guard a player who will be drafted higher then him in the draft ?

I worry about the refs in this one. Kaminsky is a flopper and Towns likes to use his size to score. It will be interesting to see how tight they call the game

You keep talking about speed, and I have no idea what you are talking about. Notre Dame and Kentucky played a game with 57 possessions. It was a slow-paced, half-court game. Notre Dame's best player was Zach Auguste, who isn't any faster than Frank (and definitely isn't faster in the post than Sam). Notre Dame's non-Grant guards weren't all that effective, and while Grant can be speedy, it's not like he was moving that quickly during the game. Again, the pace was slow as hell.

Notre Dame purposely avoided turnovers and just moved away from the ball all game until Kentucky blew an assignment, which is notably the exact thing that we have done to put together the most efficient offense in history. It also was the same strategy we used to score 1.2 PPP against Kentucky last year.

That's what I was thinking. ND also had the issue that their guards were too short to shoot over UK. Wisc is a taller team at every possession and has 3 or 4 big guys who can shoot the lights out of it.

Anyways, I absolutely fucking hated the way that game ended last night! It should have gone to overtime. I've seen guys who take the last shot absolutely get murdered in the paint and there's no call.. because 99% of the time refs will NOT let a game end on free throws. So why do it here?? that block didn't even alter Harrison's shot. He just flat out tossed up a horrible shot.

He got killed. Not even arguable that was a foul.

How do you figure? The foul was blocking on Jackson and there was almost zero contact. blocking/charging has always been a bullshit area for refs. They do shit job almost every time. For that matter, grant looks like he gets knocked down at the other end. Why no call there?

Apparently you watched a different game than I did. Pretty blatant foul. You are the first I have seen that questioned that call.

You said he got killed.. that's not even close to what happened. I'm just surprised they let the game end on something that was that close of a call. They never let other games end on ticky-tack fouls like that.. in fact I've seen MUCH worse and they let it slide so the game doesn't end like that.

Here's what calipari said..

“He was to take it and we had some stuff working on the back side,” Calipari said. “I said, ‘If you don't have it, you've got stuff behind. We had something for Willie over the top. But he drove in and he got fouled. And it was a foul, I looked at it, he moved. It was close, but he moved. Andrew tried to avoid him, which made him move instead of just jumping, which is something we do work on a lot but he's been great at.”

You know that if he calls it 'close' there wasn't really much of anything there.

id be shocked if kaminsky or hayes stay out of foul trouble. college refs feel to need to blow their whistle when the ball go inside and there is any contact

Dude you couldn't be more wrong if you tried. That was a clear block. Anyone who says otherwise is a Kentucky hater (which you have proven time and time again that you are). Either that, or you know literally nothing about basketball, which I guess is certainly an option.

I'm not really sure why it is a terrible matchup for us when a team running a very similar offense to us just shredded their defense for 1.17 PPP and lost by 2. The only reason Notre Dame didn't win was that their frontcourt was bullied by the much taller Wildcats (as I and just about everyone could see coming). Maybe our frontcourt defense isn't spectacular, but we do have a 7 footer and a 6'9 guy with great athleticism.

So yeah, we are a better team than Notre Dame on both ends of the ball. We don't have Notre Dame's biggest weakness. And Notre Dame just lost by two.

In the end, it comes down to shooting. Kentucky probably wins around 60% of the time, but if we shoot well and they don't, we will win.
If Wisconsin had a kid like Grant from ND at the point, I'd make it even money. Grant broke us down, which led to help, which led to open kickouts and clean follow ups. Wisconsin doesn't have one of those, so their shooters will be locked up

He got hammered by two different guys lol. Don't ruin a great game with absurd tears over a well officiated game. An outstanding ND team played their best game last night and would have beaten any other team in the country, Wisconsin included

If Wisconsin shoots as well as they did against us then they will be right in the fucking game. That shooting performance last night was just un-fucking-real. Our defense contested almost everything too. Still in shock.

Lets not forget these same squads faced off last year in an instant classic too. I know its not exactly the same teams, but I'm thinking this one will be a close affair, just like the ND game was for Kentucky.

The #1 thing Wisconsin must prevent is early foul trouble from Kaminski. That's the one thing that will screw them over IMO. Avoid that and it's gonna be a good one.

Very impressed with the WI bigs v. Zona yesterday. I definitely think that Kaminsky, Hayes, and Dekker can give KY problems. Of course, Towns was a monster himself yesterday. Should be a great game. Would love to see the Badgers win it.

I'm no coach but after seeing Dekker hit big shot after big shot, I would have to think WCS will be in his hip pocket on Saturday night.

KAT will be on Kaminsky (although I think that could be a match up issue for both on the defensive end of the floor) and Lyles is the "X" factor in this game as he can not only guard all 3 mentioned above, but also give them fits as an offensive player.

I am excited to watch this one... I really believe it's going to be another great game.

GO CATS!!

Foul trouble for Kaminski or KAT would be disaster for either team. I'll be interested in seeing who tries to check KAT

The other fact lost in last years game was that WCS did not play one second in that game. He's a guy who will typically score junk buckets, but defensively, he's unbelievably athletic and can guard all 5 positions. As I just mentioned above, he should be the guy on Dekker.

Towns will not be stopped unless the ref's continue to BS offensive fouls on him while backing down weaker opponents. If he stays on the floor, I can see UK winning this but it will be in that 5 - 8 point range.
