if a gun doesn’t hit a vital organ or sever a major artery, such as the femoral, gun shot wounds are not typically fatal, even the ever so scary AR-15.

On a daily basis, 321 people are shot on a daily basis and only 111 die. That is roughly 30%. From there, 65 of those die from suicide (more than half of the 111), where it is difficult to miss a major organ because the gun is against your head.

Gun safety rules…

1- treat every gun as if it is loaded.

2- don’t point your gun at any person unless you intend to use it.

3- if there is a gun, be the one who has it.

Maybe Robinson would have been able to defend himself if he had a gun. The bad guy had a gun and didn’t listen to the law that said he can’t steal, can’t rob people, or carry a gun. The good guy obeyed the law, that really is not because it is a natural right to be able to defend yourself, and was unarmed.

I heard a report (not sure that it is true) that Robinson wrestled with one of the kids. They are reported to be 15 and 17. I'd like to hear more about that version.

Are you suggesting that if Robinson had a gun, the bad guys wouldnt have initiated the robbery/carjacking?

They would have “just known” that he had a gun, and thus qould have been too scared to do anything?

Yup, if DC had both more guns and more guns out in the open THAT would solve their problems.

With the direction crime and violence is going I am considering a concealed carry permit. I have a very large caliber pistol and shotgun in my home but the handgun I have is pretty large for concealed carry.

Funny thing thinking about Brian Robinson. SE is usually the worst part of DC and he was in NE. I consider NE 60/40 depending on where you get out of the car and what time of day. I am going to a concert in NE next month. Never gave it two thoughts until he was shot. Of course any part of DC can be bad depending on time. I work in NW 5 blocks from the White House. Safe during the day, not as much at night. Hmmmm .... to carry or not to carry. Criminals are getting more brazen in the middle of the day.
