Brian Rafalski signed a deal with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. [ame=""]Josh Rimer[/ame]: Have been told that Rafalski wants to return to the NHL. Has been skating with the Everblades for a while. The [ame=""]Lightning have been[/ame] looking for a top four defenseman, and Rafalski could be their guy. [ame=""]Helene St. James[/ame]: Rafalski had contacted the Red Wings for his release papers. They granted it. May not hear interest in him [ame=""]until he shows that[/ame] he can play and retain his interest to play.

How about the possibility of adding Rafalski? Perhaps not the player he once was but is he an improvement over the like of Sustr, Cote and Barberio? I imagine so especially when it comes to playoff hockey if we get there?

If he's healthy, he might be able to help but I just don't see it - maybe I'll be proven wrong

Well after I post that, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune says that the team has no interest in Rafalski.

With Brewer, Salo, Carle, Gudas, Hedman and Suster I think we're well fixed.

Does Rafalski even have anything left in the tank?

Probably not, but he would make a good mentor and locker room guy. I personally would rather sign him as a coach instead of as a player.

I agree but the Bolts have a great locker room guy in MStL!

Don't we already have a defense coach ? I would like him as a player especially in the playoffs.

IDK tampa plays 7 defenseman and Rafalski could really help guys like gudas, hedman, sustr and mark barberio. Get him playing in the echl and lets see what shape he is in.
