Hopefully everyone watching the prospects means that the Pirates are going to be agressive this summer and make a move that pushes them into the playoffs. Still hoping for Rollins with the Phillies need to get younger. Phillies have been playing better lately, but still have Atlanta and Washington to deal with throughout the year. We don't have room for all of the pitching.

Wandy has an option for next year and Liriano is signed for next year. AJ seems like he is the guy that the staff looks up to so there are going to be some tough decisions with those three along with guys like Locke, Morton and McDonald and all of the guys in AA/AAA knocking on the doorstep. Karstens can't stay healthy so he is gone. I think the 2014 rotation depends on what type of contract (years/money) AJ wants. If it is high, they exercise Wandy's option and go with Liriano, Wandy, Cole, Morton and Locke. If he wants to stay in Pittsburgh and will sign at a discount then it gets interesting. Wandy's option next year is $13M with half coming from Houston.

Walker comes through! 2 RBI single! Sanchez out at third as the throw home was cut off, but I think it was a good baserunning risk to take in that situation.

who would you bat 1 and 2. snider has better OBP and tabata better SLP. i know small sample size, but .....

do you use jones in a package with an arm to get a really good MLB ready SS.

Not the flashy strikeout guy... He was the class of the Astros rotation for a while.. He comes here and settles in perfectly in the middle of this rotation. This team needs Wandy to go 6 or 7 and turn it over to the pen with a lead... Perfectly thrown game for Wandy (not a perfect game Mags (O; )....

It was mentioned in the pregame that both Jones and Alvarez were kept out due to poor career numbers against Gallardo.

Alvarez has a few moments where he looks like he might belong in the majors..The rest of the time he looks lost hitting. Sitting Alvarez did not hurt my feelings tonight.
