snider seems to have good plate discipline but not quite really aggressive at the plate and attacking. hopefully, as he gets more comfortable with the group and less pressured to win a spot instead of playing his role, his attacking and skill set will shine through.

I hated to see it go to 12 innings though... We use our bullpen too much as it is when there is a 9 inning game.

But wins against the Brewers seem to be so hard to come by I guess we have to take what we can get.

Didn't think it was going to make it out but still a great win.

I just hope the Reds and Pirates can tread water while they walk on water! Maybe the Padres can do some damage in their upcoming series with the Cards. :hope:

Shortly before the home run, I said aloud to my roommate something along the lines of, "I hope Cutch just walks this off, because I want to eat dinner without stress."

Thankfully he obliged.

Seems like the air was getting more humid as the night went on. In the past few days nothing has been traveling, I didn't see the homerun but I'm wondering the added humidity as the night went on helped Cutch's go out.

Hopefully having Liriano replace Sanchez in the rotation starts to reduce some innings from the bullpen.

I hope this past week puts to rest the McKenry needs to play more discussions. With T. Sanchez apparently learning how to hit this year, I think this will be the last year of McKenry as a Pirate. Next year we should see Martin with Sanchez backing him up and maybe catching twice per week. McKenry has some pop, but is too much of a defensive liability. Sanchez behind Martin next year with Sanchez taking over in 2015.

The apparent starting pitching depth is what will make this year different from the past two. Would love to see another encouraging start from Liriano. If that happens, this has the potential to be a top 5-8 staff in MLB.

Burnett (R), Rodriguez (L), Liriano (L), Gomez/Morton/Cole (R), Locke (L)

depth-Gomez (R), Morton (R), Karstens (R), Cole (R), Irwin (R), McPherson (R), Oliver (L)

We are finally at a good place with pitching depth. It only took 20 years, 2 significant trades (Burnett and Rodriguez) and a free agent signing (Liriano), but we got there. Now we just need our draftees to continue to develop.

why dont you say that more often then,
seems pretty easy and straightforward.

We do have some nice rotation depth. I think we need to resign at least one of AJ/Wandy to a 2/3 year deal.

Just saw this on pirate prospects

Peter Gammons (via Will Flemming on Twitter) said on MLB Network that 10 teams were at Victory Field this weekend, looking at Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitching prospects Vic Black and Duke Welker.

Its real nice having all these flame throwing prospects in AAA

In the past our depth would be soft tossing AAAA types with a few over the hill scrubs sprinkled in the mix.
