Should the Patriots pursue ex-Jets WR Brandon Marshall?

Would you?
Essentially the best for the past 10 years, or 9 of 10 anyway.
But was Fitzpatrick's fleecing the Jets the reason of his decline last year?
Is he still good enough to warrant a position on the pats roster, or too much of a head case?

If anything, he will drive down the price of Floyd.

I say bring him in for an interview/tryout and low-ball an offer to see how serious a counter offer he has.

NO!!!!!!!

The Patriots don't need him. Simple as that.

He's going to turn 33. He's a pain in the ass in the locker room.

WRs on the Patriots..................Edelman, Amendola, Hogan, Mitchell (8/81 in the SB), Floyd, Lucien. There's really no room for ring hunter who could be a problem.

If the Pats decide to part ways with Amendola AND Floyd, then I'd say bring him in for a visit, make a flat low offer with strong caveats about behavior. If he can follow the program, then he might be a fair (not great) replacement for Amendola.

The big problem is .......what would a 40 year old Brady do with a 6'5" WR??

I think if Floyd doesn't return you make a low one max two year offer to Marshall. He still has it. Funny I was just watching one of the sports networks and they commented how Marshall had his way with Richard Sherman. Granted this may have been when Sherman had his unreported knee injury? But two vets going at each other. If Marshall can pull that off weekly on a NE team, that would be scary. Lots of stipulations would need to be in his contract like no more regular appearances on sport shows.

No, in my opinion. Dude may be good but he's not a "winner". Also, receiver is the 2nd least of our worries next to QB.

Assuming at least Dola or Floyd are back. If they both leave then there is a need IMHO. Not sure if Lucien is the answer. He'll get his chance in camp regardless. I'd say barring Blount leaving NE is also set at RB. Too bad because McCaffrey would be a great fit in a NE style offense.

Marshall has been stuck on a shitty team and still is putting up numbers. He's always been the rah rah team guy. On a winning team like NE I think he surprises many on how much of a locer room guy he is. His passion is just misdirected because of his situations I think.

You need to update. They are no longer black athletes, they are African American.

I assume that Al Horford doesn't count? Or is he just not your definition of "big named"?

Hanley Ramirez, Pablo Sandoval?

I forgot about Horford. The other two are not African Americans...

The point is MANY black (african American) athletes avoid Boston because of how racist it is.

I think Marshall will price himself out, and will be gone before NE even entertains the thought.

Ray Allen. KG.
Neither of them came as a Free Agent.

Both via trade.

And Al Horford is Dominican, not American. (But he did go to HS here in MidMichigan. Moved to the states before his freshman year.)

Ray Allen. KG.

Ray Allen - Traded by the Seattle SuperSonics with Glen Davis to the Boston Celtics for Jeff Green, Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West and a 2008 2nd round draft pick (Trent Plaisted was later selected).

Kevin Garnet - Traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Boston Celtics for Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliff, Sebastian Telfair, a 2009 1st round draft pick (Wayne Ellington was later selected) and a 2009 1st round draft pick (Jonny Flynn was later selected).

Guess again...

I am not really interested in Marshall for the Pats. He will want top dollar and would only come to NE for a short time (one year deal?) for the chance to get a ring.

Again, you need to update your information. Boston had a reputation of being racist back in the days of forced busing. It has been a very appealing city to blacks in the past 20 years. Massachusetts is a Democrat's Mecca.
The Boston City Council is one of most diverse in the US for large cities.

Problem is that old shit just can't get flushed away.

Well it would help if they didn't have one of the highest hate crime rates in the entire country. They are 2nd only to Columbus at this time.

They have also been ranked top-5 for worst treatment of women of cities across the country.
