"Brady hasn't had his normal accuracy this year...Against the Bengals, Brady couldn't connect on a number of throws that were there."

Having a receiver being where he expects him to be and who he trusts will probably greatly increase his accuracy... at least when he's throwing to Gronk.

The pressure off the young guys combined with the continued reps probably helps them be in the right place more as well. It's a process.

And things like Tom Freakin' Brady being the 22nd ranked passer in accuracy according to PFF is why I don't take anything from PFF nearly as seriously as I would with Sabermetrics in Baseball.

His accuracy has been off, but I think it's more of a chemistry thing with a bunch of newbs running around the field. Give him some time, he will bounce back when they jell a bit and have a decent year.

The thing that worries me as a fan who wants to see my team win Super Bowls is it seems like the evil genius is going back to his early 2000s roots and building a dominating defense while leaning on Brady to do as much with the pieces on offense as he can. The defense seems pretty elite right now and the offense will only get better with experience and returning players. He always has them playing better in the playoffs, too.

It might be a stretch to expect a lot this year unless the offense drastically improves, but they might be in really good shape for Brady's last few years.

Hey cwood, sup man. What you say sounds very reasonable, though it has been a messy affair so far. Brady has made some great throws, but has been off the mark on several other passes and failed to see open receivers at times. I like the way the team is progressing, no great expectations this year but it's fun to see new young players getting in the groove.

I find it a lot more likely that rookie receivers are struggling with being in the right spot / getting open than I do that Brady suddenly got a lost worse. Brady's strength has never been his natural talent or ability to ad-lib. His strength is he's freakin' intelligent as hell, works hard, and knows where to go with the ball. He's going to struggle with rookie receivers doing what almost all rookie receivers do... which is struggle with route running.

I'm not overly concerned about New England, at least so far this season, but they seem like they're going to be in good shape for Brady's last stretch run. And you know that makes me feel icky to say. That's actually not true. In real life I root for the Patriots. I just can't do it on forums when Pats fans are d-bags about Sir Peyton Manning.

I think they have the pieces on offense this year to make a run if they click.

Thanks for the good vibes. I know where you're coming from, there were so many d-bags trolls over at ESPN general that made it hard for real fans of the game to have good conversations about the NFL and its great players.

So when the numbers glorify Brady, they're great. When they expose him as no longer an elite QB, they're unacceptable. Is that about right?
