If Smith hadn't raised up right before contact that elbow would have connected right with his head... It was pretty clear what the intent was. I must just be wearing homer blinders.

Guys have scored coming out of the box numerous times in the playoffs already - Erik Gustafsson did it in game 6 against the Rangers, Jussi Jokinen did it last night and now P.K. Subban did it tonight

Yah pretty clear pk intended to land a big check with his ass and smith moved and ended up getting a forearm to the chest

IMO that hit by Subban was a borderline penalty. I hate his whole "skate backward into the guy" thing, but that was hardly a dirty play.

They just showed a slow-mo replay of the big Subban hit. Absolutely a clean hit - going in for a hip check and PK's arm/elbow hit into Smith's shoulder/chest.

Nothing cheap about it. Was actually a great hit.

At worst its interference imo because smith tries to move to avoid the hit and pk leans back in withe his arm and gets him in the chest

But thats just an instinctive hockey play to prevent smith from getting around him
