Hard to believe this is the first time since 1973 the Wings have opened the season at home, and only the 11th time in their history.

Any word on how Babcock is constructing the lines for the game?

Wings skating with same lines as yesterday, so it appears as if Weiss and Cleary will be scratched tonight.

..

Lines: Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Franzen, Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco (w/Weiss), Nyquist-Helm-Nestrasil, Miller-Andersson-Glendening (w/ Cleary).

...

Looks like Kindl is in and Lashoff out. D pairs: Kronwall-Ericsson, DeKeyser-Kindl, Quincey-Smith.

...

Datsyuk also skating again but he's still on short-term IR.

Also read on Twitter last night the Wings are still actively trying to trade Kindl. shame they couldn't package him and Andersson for something.

Glendening has made Andersson redundant.

Rumo(u)rs are the Oilers and Wings are talking turkey (it is Thanksgiving up here this weekend), Oilers want a centre, Wings need Petry (Dan, not Jeff)

@DetroitRedWings

Let's all wish Henrik Zetterberg a Happy 34th Birthday!

All the talk about the old Wings I thought he was closer to 85 than 34...

Thanks.

Glad to see Tatar-Sheahan-Jurco intact. That will be the most productive line offensively for the Wings for at least the first few games of the season.

Considering the first three matchups of the season, I like seeing Abby on the top line with Z and Franzen. Abby will have Zetterberg's back when Lucic and Perry cross-the-line with the inevitable cheap shot. Nyquist is clearly more dangerous than Abby offensively, but I suspect Babcock will match up Z's line on Bergeron's line and Getzlaf's line, cancelling each other out. That extra scoring punch on the third line could be the advantage Babcock is looking to exploit.

Interesting that Babcock is set to healthy-scratch the 3rd-highest-paid skater on the roster...and we've got him for four more years.

That Quincey-Smith D-pair is a bit scary. Methinks the opponents get most of their goals when those two are on the ice. I really hope Smith takes the next step this season or it could be a long and painful one.

How about Weiss for Eberle?

You'll have to throw in a Kindl - I'll let you decide on the player or an e-reader.

Deal. Weiss & Kindl for Eberle and an e-reader. [Wings are pretty good at flipping e-readers into players.]

I see Babcock still hasn't learned that abdelkader does not belong on the first line. Guess he is going to learn the hard way AGAIN

Weiss being scratched while abdelkader is on the top line is mind boggling.

Like I said earlier, I think Babcock has Abby on the first line to start the season to handle the BOS and ANA ruffians targeting Zetterberg, not because he's a first-line scorer. Each of the first three are at home and Babs has last change.
