Game Thread: Boise State @ Washington State 10:30PM ESPN

Our suddenly improved defense and special teams take on the Cougs and their high flying offense led by QB Luke Falk. Pretty exciting to play a Pac-12 team so close in location to us.

As for the game itself we'll see, if our QB Brett Rypien fucks up early we basically lose him for the entire game because he always compounds his mistakes. We need the good Rypien to show up tonight to even have a chance. I'm not sure if he shows up, I suspect our defense and special teams keep the score closer than the game actually is. Washington State basically dominates and wins.

If Brett plays like shit (likely) and our inexperienced, leaky offensive line can't protect his immobile ass (highly likely) then we are screwed. I feel bad for our defense. They are young and they are studly but I'm sure it's only gonna be a matter of time in this one because our offense is going to put them in some bad positions.

With Cozart in at QB I like our chances in this one, but with Brett playing behind this offensive line we have no chance.

I definitely expect Cozart to enter the game on occasion, how often depends on how Rypien plays. We'll have to see, hopefully Rypien isn't going to be as bad as he looked last week

I don't know dude, we looked like trash against Montana State. A half way decent defense could have shut Falk down if he is going to only use 2 receivers and his running backs.

It's not been good for the past two plus years. The young defense should be really, really good and up and coming but the offense has now become boring and predictable, basically the opposite of what it was for 15 plus years. The offensive line is inexperienced and rather than improving the QB seems to regress over time. He's terribly slow and immobile and throws miserably on the run. He also tends to telegraph passes as evidenced by the three interceptions he threw against you guys last season.

So yeah, in short we do suck a fat one these days.

You still won 31-0, that's far and away better than your previous performances against FCS opponents. I feel like Leach puts little to no effort preparing for those teams. He's going to be prepared against us though.

This sounds crazy to say but your beastly defensive line should have a fucking field day, especially if Rypien gets extensive playing time which he will. I see your defense shutting us down.

This also sounds crazy but your offense could struggle a bit as well before they get going. Once these Boise kids on defense grow up (they are super young), they are going to be studs.

True, but Portland State and Eastern were at least very good FCS schools. I'm not up to date on scouting but it didn't look like one Montana State player could've been on our depth chart. Leach, at least in the past has seemed to use those as extra practices, but in the past you could see improvement from guys like Martin, Sweet, Williams etc. This year there wasn't any young offensive players who showed they could contribute to this season.

I guess this could just be a grow up game for both. Our defense looked amazing but it was against Montana State, our o-line looked as good as advertised but again against a crappy FCS school. Well, good luck to you Trucker U fans in tonight's game.
