The Dallas Cowboys have signed quarterback Kellen Moore to the practice squad.
According to Brian Murphy of the Idaho Statesman, the former Boise State standout has found himself a new home in Dallas.
Moore comes over from the Detroit Lions after he was waived on Saturday. Moore spent three seasons in Detroit serving as the third-string quarterback after going undrafted in 2012.
Moore hasn't recorded a snap in the regular season, but has received preseason playing time. Moore ended the 2015 preseason going 29-47 for 254 yards and one touchdown with one interception.
Before the NFL, Moore had an illustrious career for the Boise State Broncos. He went 50-3 during his time in Idaho and was named an All-American twice. Moore threw for a total of 14,667 yards and 142 touchdowns in his four-year career with the Broncos.
The Cowboys are only keeping two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster and appear to be adding two to the practice squad. Quarterback Jameill Showers will be joining Moore on the practice squad and a finalized roster is expected to be announced soon.
That's what I like about it. I think the guys mindset is to be a back up. Weeden, I still get the feeling that he thinks he is auditioning for a starting role somewhere else. This guy has been with our OC before. Definitely a good system for him, I think. I don't see him being the future starter.
