I'm just here to troll everyone
Nice to be playing real baseball for the next few games.
This is where Bochy's significant advantages over Yost should be most apparent.

Simply, no
Bumgarner has already carried a lot of innings this postseason. Making him go on three-days rest, no thank you. I'd like to have him healthy for next year and the future. Not worth risking

Does having him throw 80 pitches a day early really pose any career risk? Has a pitcher had something like that hurt him previously? I can't think of any (starters)....

Plus, the guy is an absolute horse. He has *asked* to pitch. His delivery is super-smooth, strain-free. It's not like asking Timmy to go on three days rest. The naysayers on this simply can't lump Bum in with all other pitchers when it comes to this.
So the question really becomes: Do you want a rested Vogey or Petit in game 4, or Bum on three days rest, after a relatively easy game 1 outing for him? And add that he would be available for game 7 if it came to it. I understand the risks, but they are minimal.
This really is a pretty easy decision, IMHO.
Cain was a "horse" too, he wore down
Bumgarner's already 8th all-time in innings pitched in one postseason. Would be second if he goes six innings.
He's gonna pitch game 5 regardless so he'll get to second. And it's only because of the play in game, which was on normal rest.
It's still a lot of innings though. Going on three-days rest is especially risky. Just have Petit throw Game 4, Bumgarner Game 5 on normal rest
Bochy needs to start Morse today.
