Sadly he isn't the only coach to do this. He is scum regardless, but this happens more often then it should.

Less than 48 hours before NSD?
And making some token assistant be the hatchet man instead of the headcoach?

Even the sleaziest of coaches pick up the phone themselves when they do this typically.
And very have the ballz to screw over a kid so close to the deadline.
Most of the worst offenders will give the kid at least a week notice.

PETRINO already has a rapsheet of sleaze...This is just par for the course.

Support the early signing period rule being proposed. It'll put an end to this stuff.

In addition to the NSD and the signing period we have now, there will be a 2 week(IIRC) period in December where people can sign early. That will ensure kids like this have their spot secured, and/or give them plenty of time to make changes otherwise.

Should also help coaches sign classes and meet needs easier as well. I can't imagine how tough it must be to put together a good class with 18 year old kids who commit and then decommit within days.

Should recruits who sign early be given the opportunity to sign elsewhere if the head coach or appropriate coach leaves?

No. If they are worried about that then they shouldn't sign early.

I'm pretty sure the same thing happened to some kid trying to commit to Auburn this year.

Could you imagine trying to put together a class?

This kid has now signed on with Wake Forest. I hope he runs all over Louisville in his carreer.

Not at all. 1. Don't sign early 2. You should be committing to the school and not the coach

I think so, that's like a breach of contract if you ask me. It seems odd that coaches can skip town without having to sit out a year but the kids can't.

The kid should get the same protection as the school gets. If the new coach is bound by the scholarship offer then the kid is bound, and for the same amount of time. If its a one year scholarship then it can be rescinded by the school then the kid should be able to go to any other school after one year without restriction, and so forth.
