I agree and think it's ridiculous to think they should be paid.

First, if you pay them you have to pay everyone (i.e., the badminton team).
Second, they are receiving a free education, housing and food.
Third, no one is forcing them into playing college sports. They are fully aware of the rules before signing.
Fourth, everyone talks about the big money that universities make off of football & basketball, but decline to mention that most other sports at the university are funded by that revenue as well as for academics.
Fifth, if you pay every college athlete wouldn't that forfeit their amateur status, making them ineligible for Olympic competition?

Mine was more along the lines of "they all do it" than protecting my Beloved University. I know corruption invades sports and there is no way to guard against it. No panties in a wad as i am well aware that All Universities are corrupt to some degree.

Who's? Stoops, i agree if they are paid to win Big 12 titles and contend for national titles.

Sabans players are all underpaid according to the accolades they have won recently...or paid the right amount.

This was meant as a joke for those taking it seriously.

I dont think players should get anything more than they already do as many Universities are already losing money on the sports programs now. Add in paying the higher ranking sports teams players and it gets really bad and removes the amateur status from the players, making them fair game for other forms of money to come their way with no reprisals from a ruling body.

They are in the Big time now having J.F to pay. His salary alone is probably the size of most rosters in college sports.
