cant believe after this off season and the promise , the debates , and such that there isnt anymore interest in TC which a lot of you were hoping to come

now its here and for the past few days really not much action or comment at all

doesnt seem like there is any excitement here about our guys

seems disappointing to me , hope it picks up with the pre season games

Taking a wait and see attitude dad. Hard to know much until they start playing real football.

I am excited to see the Dline this year with the additions of Payne and Settle and Allen and Ionman coming back healthy.

Very excited to see Guice play. The WRs are mehhhh until the show me differently. Interested to see how Quinn does in the preseason. Right now I am mehhhh on Smith but will hope for the best.

Also looking forward to seeing Apke play a bit since I am a Penn State fan. I believe a few people here called him a bad pick. We will see. No doubt he needs some time to learn but he does have some skills.

I am following the Vikings some too. What a shock huh?

I think action will pickup after the game Thursday.

Terrell Pyor syndrome = when following a player in camp and he kicks ass and when the season starts he does nothing it's very disappointing .. the disappointment is so high you just don't fallow camp that much to defend yourself from disappointment T.P.S lol

I can only speak for myself, but I think all of the melodrama created by this team over the last 20 years has finally taken its toll on my enthusiasm. I just can’t seemed to get to excited at this point. Alex smith is a perfect example. I’ve seen this act before, just with a different cast. Do the names George, Brunnell, McNabb, Collins, Banks, Grossman, ring a bell? Granted, some of these guys came here with less a resume than Smith, but some were equal or better. Most were touted as an improvement. None really were. So once again we find ourselves with a mid 30s qb on the backside of his career and that should get me excited? Unfortunately this play always seems to end the same way. I hope I’m wrong, but I’ll wait to see what really happens before I buy in again.

How's the Oline?

It's gotta be exciting to actually have a real RB at least.

Alex Smith can run Gruden's offense. Crowder and Thompson are perfect pieces around him, too. Gonna get anything out of Doctson?

Well said. Failing to secure Cousins when they had years to do so was a big blunder. Cousins isn't Brees, but he is pretty consistent and most teams would love to have him.

Enthusiasm in the area and buzz around this team just seems to dip more and more each year.

Snyder has really worn down this fan base and its pretty noticeable.

I have family that have been Skins fans for over 40 years and they just dont give AF anymore. They'd rather follow the Caps, Nats, or enjoy their Sundays fishing/deer/duck hunting/or crabbing

Sad part is you're right. I've been a skins fan since I was basically old enough to comprehend sports. Snyder on top of all the shitty excuses we had as head coaches post Gibbs era has took it's toll. I'm always going to love my skins but I can't take another 5-11 season. In the words of the great coach Spurrier "Welp, 5-11, we're not that good". P.S. I think Gruden know he needs to win now and acknowledges he's on the hot seat. Another year with 7 wins and he may be gone and the rebuild will begin for 100th time. Hoping for the best.

Enthusiasm will be fine come Sept. Good God - its freaking preseason. Whether the fan base stays engaged all depends on how the Redskins do in Sept & Oct. Their schedule is pretty brutal, but there are games that appear to be winnable. IMO it all depends on if the upgrades for the run game & run defense pan out. They certainly have potential in that area, but you never know how that will translate.

I am certainly looking fwd to this season. No predictions - good or bad - just waiting to see how this unfolds. HTTR

Yep. All I can say is that this past season I was basically done with the Caps. They let me down too many times & I thought "here we go again" especially after being down 2-0 to Columbus. Look what happened.

I am not suggesting in any way that the Skins will do similar & my idea of success for them is certainly on a lower level than it has been for recent versions of the Caps. However you just don't know how teams will do in the NFL in this era. I will withhold any judgment till at least the end of Oct.

I felt the same way about the Caps and the Redskins last years. When the Caps made the playoffs, I was still like... well they're going to lose to the Penguins so who cares.

And with the Skins, it was primarily because they wouldn't reach a deal with Cousins. Secondly it was because they didn't address Nose tackle for the Umptenth time, and expected a DE to play it.

For what it's worth, I'm finally starting to get excited that they're paying attention to building the lines. D line has made progress, and we have several pieces on the Oline.

I wish we had 1 more established WR threat though.

It's going to be a long year. The Redskins are not my first team (or even my second), but I have always liked them and keep up with them. They are definitely my favorite team in the NFC East.
I see it being another long year for them. Somewhere around 5-11 or 7-9.

Do you think the fan base is as engaged now as it was 10 years ago? 15 years ago? 20 years ago?

Eagles had 40k show up to watch them practice. Skins are lucky to have 2-3 rows watching the practice.... I remember getting amped for fan appreciation day and doing my best to get down to training camp at least 1 time per offseason..

now? meh

This is without even going into the regular season "home crowd" which is pretty well documented and discussed
