Bo, Penn State, and other coaches

I'm sure everyone heard that a newspaper in PA is reporting Penn interviewed Bo in Texas last week. Bo denied it today - in his own dick way.

I'm guessing Penn did call him to talk about possible coaches they were considering and maybe tongue in cheek asked if he was interested.

Bo doesn't endure himself to the fans; which will turn against him sooner than later with the way he portrays himself. I want him to come out, when asked by Sip or Dirk about crap like this, that he thinks Nebraska is the best job in the nation, his family loves the city, and he's happy here.

With that being said I don't think he's happy here. Back when he was here in 2003; he was cool as hell but I think success has gone to his head and he's just a dick to reporters which gives the fans an impression he doesn't care (at least to me). I get the feeling that he thinks he's too good for Nebraska. He's just a mercenary coach looking for a better gig. Anyone else get that feeling?

But what if Bo leaves for what he sees as greener pastures? I want a coach that understands the program (tradition, dedication, fans, etc.) and not another mercenary. The only one I could think that could be available and has ties is Tom Rathman but I don't even know if he would be interested.

As far as the way Bo handles it, would I like to see him say "this is the best job in the country and there's no place I'd rather be"? Of course.

I think you're right that the way Bo treats the media could hurt him in the long run if we have some struggles in the next few years.

Media is just an extension of the fans... Sometimes it feels like he's asking ME "what do you think!?" in that condescending tone of his whenever the media asks a question he doesn't like.

I really don't foresee any reallllly bad seasons any time soon, but look at Texas. (I know I know ) It can happen to the best of programs. Mack brown would not be there right now had he treated the media the way Bo does, you can take that to the bank. I'm not saying Bo needs to be THAT much of a brown noser, but he could take a cue from Carl and just HUMOR US A LITTLE.

That's respectable. I just don't think he's doing himself any favors should he have a 5 or 6 win season any time in the near future. Like I said, it happens to the best of programs, but the difference in whether a coach keeps his job is often whether or not he's been buying himself brownie points with the media/fanbase.

He's not gonna find it to be much different at any other major CFB program... If he thinks it's rough here, try being Tom Coughlin. I don't think Bo would make it out of a NY press conference alive.

Bo should know is worse elsewhere. Wasn't it just a few years ago that LSU was looking to fire Miles and the media were destroying him?

I don't know that he flat out said "no" with no context behind it. I would hardly say his answer was classless.

He said something to the effect of "if I responded to every rumor about me involving an opening at another school I wouldn't have time for anything else."

No one's got a gun to his head but it would be nice to hear him say there's no place he'd rather be. It would probably buy him some breathing room when it comes to rumors like this in the future.. People would be less quick to question it.

Bo is a great coach and equally a great person. He is under a microscope all the time shit gets old brotha! cant a man take a shit without the media asking what color it was. maybe if the media wasnt so all up in his bizznass he would relax a bit.

T.O says he thinks Bo is happy hear and doesn't see him leaving in the near future. He also said that hes not saying Bo will be hear for the next 30 years.

My personal opinion is that the days of one coach staying for his entire career are done. Not just here but anywhere .

There is too much money to be had out there and the programs that want to make the next step aren't afraid to spend it.
