Blue Beetle (2023)

Blue Beetle will be the 14th film of the DC Extended Universe, following The Flash and preceding Aquaman 2: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The film will star Xolo Mariduena as the Jaime Reyes incarnation of Blue Beetle and be released on Friday, August 18, 2023.

interesting that BB gets a movie... he is a pretty much unknown superhero... with that said, I always found him an in interesting one in justice league shows and young justice...

probably one of the most interesting powers in the DC universe...

if they do it right, it can be both campy and dark...

not really... Blue beetle never was an important part of the justice league... and only part of the enhanced justice league( when basically every superhero works for the justice league... what that means is that he is not necessary for any story that is not surrounded by him... unless they do a focus on the young superhero teams... which i doubt they ever will do..

there is nothing wrong with this being a stand alone DC movie... and that probably will help it...


Knowing what i know about him in comics... he is one of the most interesting powers, and origin... and the fact that he is a latino, will help too.... Is this the first Latino SUperhero movie??

Not really a problem with the movie, but with the brand. Shazam is also a small story that has little to do with the greater universe, but it still bombed hard, despite being a sequel to a well liked movie. The DC brand is toxic right now, but maybe The Flash is actually great and helps it.

this is different though... Shazam 2 was advertised terribly... this has a built in advertisement being the first Hispanic superhero in live action movie...

this will be promoted heavily closer to the release date..

I hope they actually advertise this. The "first" whatever identity is not really that meaningful tbh (I'm Latino), but it has to be good.

live action vs animated... and miles is a mix of latino and african american... so a little different... But mostly because of live action vs animated...

this has a mostly latino cast as well... spiderverse was not a mostly latino animation... most were peter parker and other whities..

Eh, frankly those "the first whatever" rarely work, and "Latino" is too broad a term. The guy is Mexican, and they are portraying a stereotypical Mexican family. Guys from Puerto Rico might not feel really represented by that.

I will definitely see it, but it has to be good if it's going to defeat the DC curse and become successful.

i think we are talking different things... because the first always gets promoted to death... sure quality is more important... but the buzz for this should be high... If it is bad, then it will flop no matter what....



OVerall... i think my point is simply that Shazam 2 bombing is not an indication on whether this succeeds or not...


Shazam 2 also bombed because of Black Adam... Which i will say is one of the WORST THINGS TO HAPPEN TO DC AND ONE OF THE BIGGER FACTORS OF THE FIRINGS AND REBOOT!!!!


The Rock may not have killed DC but he definitely blew it up!!!
