I suggested this years ago and more recently based on the notion that both Orakpo and Kerrigan were DE's coming out of school (see thread: Square peg...round hole) in it you'll find a host of people willing to take umbrage at this suggestion. I stand by my original position and now wonder if any of the naysayers have changed their minds.

I advocated this also over the last few years and was also berated. Both Kerrigan and Rak are natural DEs, although I think Kerrigan could make the transition to OLB in a 4-3. Rak, not so much. But I would prefer to see them both with their hand in the dirt. The knock was that they are both undersized to be DEs in a 4-3.

This has got to be the nuttiest thing that has ever happened in football!! Just so that I'm clear, Orakpo and Kerrigan were both DE's coming out of school right? The team drafted them as DE"s then converted them to LB's right? Well, doesn't it make more sense to draft guys who have played LB'er their entire careers to play LB'er at this level? Benefit of the doubt, let's say that they were drafted to play DE, why the immediate switch? Makes NO sense to me!! More benefit of the doubt, let's say that they were drafted to play LB'er, doesn't this suggest a greater learning curve, than that of a guy who is more natural at LB'er??

OK, now let's talk about the BPA thing, Orakpo drafted with the 13th pick in the 1st round and Kerrigan drafted with the 16th pick in the 1st round. Well if you're going to draft the BPA in the first round, wouldn't you want that BPA to play in the position for which he was drafted? Otherwise he is no longer the BPA, for the position he will eventually play....right?

If the team truly wanted OLB's then they should have drafted OLB's instead of DE's to convert to the position. BTW: Pro Bowl is a popularity contest, only one of those was a genuine selection the other three were substituted in selections. Also, I'll trade a thousand pro bowl selections for team wins any day.

Hey I have an idea, let's draft a center to play WR, a DE to play QB and a QB for kick-offs only. No wonder this team is jacked up!!!

again those guys didnt make pro bowls because they were popular . they made it on merit despite your tries to promote otherwise

and whether they were substitutes or not they both were at least in the top 4 of their respective positions

the fact is both players are playing fine at OLb and have their entire pro careers and there isnt any need to change them now

I respect your opinion on this, we just don't agree, no point in going back and forth over previously stated perspectives.
