Remember when a lot of the fans around the league laughed when that deal was done? If the Flyers would have won the Cup against the Hawks, everyone would eat there words. Since it looks like the downside is starting to show, does that validate some of those other opinions?

Anyway, for the Penguins, I'd move Kennedy and a first rounder for that Parise kid. I hear good things and he may or may not dislike the Jersey front office.

I really cant say. He will probably get the C (Much to Andrej Meszaro's dismay :p) and hey, this eam might win a Cup this year. We wont know until his career is over.

Might want to make sure his knee is all good first...

So who needs a Center?

Frans Nielson is going to be an UFA at the end of the season. He's a very good two way center. He can play on the 2nd or 3rd line. His contract for this season is 550K. So every team in the league can afford him.

I would like a prospect forward or defenseman & a 1st round pick in return.

Something like Luke Adam & Buffalo's 1st round pick in 2012.

Austin Watson or Jonathan Blum & a 1st round pick in 2012 would work too.

Granted most Isles fans including myself think Nielson will be resigned by the team. However if he expects more than 2 to 2.5 per on a long term deal he's going to be headed out of town come deadline day.

How about Blake Comeau to San Jose for Vlasic?

Yes I do. Frans plays against every teams top line whenever he's on the ice. His point totals are going up as well. Grabner flourished as one of his wingers last year. Frans allows his linemates to take chances because he's so good defensively. He's also a pretty good playmaker. I'm positive that if Nielson became available every team in the playoff race from both conferences would be very interested & they would love his cheap contract.

I think the asking price is a little too high.
An established vet and a 2nd rounder,or a prospect and a 2nd or 3rd is more reasonable for a projected 40 point guy.

fair enough, i was just curious.. seemed a bit high of a price to me, but i never watch the isles aside from when they play the flyers.. and thats really not when the isles play their best

Tim Connolly scored 13 goals last year & he got a 2 year deal at 4.75 million from Toronto.

Centers don't come cheap pal. Look at what the Kings gave up for Richards.

If Nielson were to be traded to a contender I'd ask for a late 1st round pick & a prospect in a teams top 5. I don't think that's too steep at all. Heck Garth got a 1st round pick for Campoli & Comrie from Ottawa & neither one of them are anywhere near as good a player as Nielson is.

tim connolly was hurt most of last year wasn't he? and he's had far more productive years in the past

edit: upon further review i contract my statement.. played 68 games last year, only had 42 points.. put together a nice year last year, but really has been about a 50 pt player his whole career.. upon further further review, that's been about a pt/game as he's injured frequently

Tim Connolly is always hurt. Yet he gets grossly overpaid. I honestly hope the Islanders resign Nielson. I just think he & his agent are going to want a very big pay raise.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mark Streit was made available at the deadline or during the next offseason. He has two years left at 4.1 million per.

To a division rival of the Flames - Come on filo, I thought we had an understanding, Huskins to the Wild, not Heater.

lol, sorry Dasher. But the guy only scored 26 goals and looked as slow as Huskins last year. Without Big Joe giving him saucer passes for tap ins, he's just not the same player (watch him score 50 now, lol) in my humble opinion. I still think he's a solid 30 goal scorer, but he's become ultra-reliant on the PP to score goals. I think at this point in his career, he's a low 30g, low 30a guy (which is still good), PP specialist, who is too slow and too unmotivated to play defense.

He did play with a broken hand last year, but it wasn't his hand that made me completely frustrated with his play.....it was his legs and his lack of heart.

Sid Crosby for a 3rd and 4th round pick. Hey, he has concussion problems.

GF-to-the-Y, big guy. Crosby only has to play half a season to lead a team in points and goals.
