I didn't think it was a slew foot btw. It just looked like Michalek and Ballard got tangled up and Ballard went down awkwardly.

Hopefully he's alright though.

Gary Valk was on the Slew Foot wagon last night too.
though he's turned into a homer of John Garrett Proportions lately.

either way... nasty picture!
he was 'questionable' to return during the game, so *knock on wood*

I watched the Valk - Taylor exchange on Sportsnet last night. In my opinion, it wasn't a slew foot in the traditional sense, but Michalek pinned Ballard's knee from behind leaving Keith in a tough spot.

I guess what I mean is that when I normally think of a slew-foot, it's a guy coming in from behind and kicking out a guy's skate/skates. Ballard probably doesn't get injured if Michalek doesn't grab it from behind and slightly turn him. The fact that it looked to me that his knee was pinned gave him very little chance of escaping without injuring something.

Here is the video for those that haven't seen it. I really don't think it was an intentional slew foot though.

It's pretty hard to prove intent in this case. Yeah, Michalek dragged him down but they got tangled up pretty good and Ballard took the worst of it. I don't think it's anything more then that. It's unfortunate for Ballard though and hopefully he's alright.

Ballard's agent @benhankinson just talked to him and Ballard says "it's not as bad as it looks. I'm pretty flexible." No prognosis yet tho

Tony Gallagher - Keith Ballard has MCL sprain or tear. Optimistic reports have him out 2-4 weeks with four the most likely

Take that for what its worth

canucks twitter feed:

GM Mike Gillis just informed the media there won't be an update on Keith Ballard until Wednesday morning.

on the radio Gillis was hot about the hit that injured Ballard ... called it a disrespectful and unprofessional act but he wont ask the league to review it

It was like a hockey version of a horse collar tackle in football...I was hot when Javier Glatt of the Lions put Ken-Yon Rambo of the Stamps out for a year with such a tackle.
