I think we all thought Bortles was the "Achilles heel" of the Jags and rightfully so. But they have other worries. Their D got lit up on the road by JimmyG and the Niners. If they get through the WC game, what will powerhouse offenses like Pitt or NE do to them? And no way Bortles is the guy to bring them back if they get down. Especially against play-off caliber teams.

Isn't that basically what his norm is? When he had his big year, wasn't he putting up a bunch of stats late in losses because they were down by a lot? (many times down big by his own doing?)

No because usually the stats are compiled while the Jags are down by like 25-30 points and it's late in the 4th with no possibility of a comeback. At this time this, he brought the Jags to within a score.

Just looking at his big 2015, I don't see many...if any games where there were down 25-30, and put up compiler stats. If anything...the Niners/Jags game was very similar except he had 3 picks to only 1 TD.

It was a 4 point game with 1 minute left. Those aren't garbage stats. Those are stats to try and complete a comeback to win the game.

I think regarding the almost comeback with Bortles, it may have something to do with the defense he was facing as well. I don't know because I didn't see the game but they were likely in prevent and that Niner team is pretty beat up and inexperienced as well. I don't think he does that vs. the play-off teams he will face and his earlier mistakes were the reason they were in that position in the first place. I don't know, just guessing here.

They went for two onside kicks, succeeding on the first to get another TD. Still down by 4 points, but SF gets another TD to clinch it.

He didn't correct them...that's just stupid. His own ineptitude was a major reason the Jaguars were in a situation where they were going for onside kicks. In general, given the soft pass defense, Bortles was shit.
