He was already on thin ice. Missing ANOTHER EP is what finally done him in.

Well, it was certainly time for them to move on. Missing chip shot FG's, PAT's, and now even flubbing kickoffs... enough was enough. It'd be tough to see this new guy Kai Forbath actually perform even worse than Walsh had been.

Walsh wound up being another 2012 Vikings draft pick that looked like a stud in his rookie season along with Matt Kalil to end up being total bums, their careers going downhill quickly after their first year. It's certainly depressing to see it happen like that. Hopefully it doesn't take them forever again to find a decent long term kicker like the pre-Ryan Longwell era.
