I don't get it, I'm looking at the numbers and seeing that if they simply bury Huet, they aren't in tooo bad shape here even if they decide to keep Niemi. Yes it's not ideal, but still not as dire as everyone is saying.

The guy I think they almost have to get rid of is Bolland. Great player but makes a ton of salary.

no way they only carry a 20 man roster.

They need to rid themselves of at least one more $3+ mill salary after burying Huet in the minors to field a full 23 man roster.

Yeah, that's why I was saying Bolland along with Huet......trading him makes the most sense and he's probably the most replaceable of those higher priced players.

Hawks went the other way with their decision... they've walked away from the Niemi arbitration award and have saved money by signing Turco to a 1 year deal worth 1.75 mill.

Poor call in my opinion.

the last time I saw a team gutted like this it was the Florida Marlins after they won the World Series.

TSN says the Turco deal is $1.3m, fwiw.
which does allow, once they waive Huet, the hawks to add five more $600k players to round out the roster.

I know Keith and Seabrook can play 30 minutes... can Kane and Toews?
Man, I hope the league just feasts on their AHL bottom 6.
