According to Adam Schefter it is a 3 year deal worth 33 million.
I think we could have let him go personally.

Oh, I think they want Trey, just not a 40 million dollar Trey, or even a 35 million dollar Trey. So, a guy that is 30 and on his 3rd contract is eligible to be signed by the Bengals. This is not what I was told about Trey......
I think we may, but now with Hill and 2 other big DT's, I think you are getting a raw prospect now in the 4th to 6th rounds. It isn't going to be the 1st rounder anymore. Not knowing what you have coming in either F/A or in the draft you had to make sure you had at least 1 veteran DT - Hill serves as that. I still think they target a DT in round 1 (one that can stop the run and pressure the QB) or in round 2...but that being said - you needed at least 1 veteran return...this solves that issue.
Only issue with Pearce is a ton of red flags on the personal side of things...same with Green...and apparently, same with Nolen...lots of questions regarding actual work ethic and other issues...Can the Bengals afford to swing on one of those guys in the 1st round? I'm not so sure.I think we may, but now with Hill and 2 other big DT's, I think you are getting a raw prospect now in the 4th to 6th rounds. It isn't going to be the 1st rounder anymore.
You can almost rest assured, our first round pick is going to be DE. I could see a CB or S being taken in the first round also if all desired DE's are off the board.
We are potentially losing Hendrickson, he is all but gone, we lost Hubbard, Ossai.

I would really like to see Malcolm Koonce signed from the Raiders. I think he was a guy on that upward trajectory like Hendrickson was when we signed him. Granted, he probably won't be a Hendrickson, but if you can get half that production with an 8 - 10 sack guy, you could do much worse.Only issue with Pearce is a ton of red flags on the personal side of things...same with Green...and apparently, same with Nolen...lots of questions regarding actual work ethic and other issues...Can the Bengals afford to swing on one of those guys in the 1st round? Hill is a fine backup. But, this team still needs a true DT. You can live with McKinley-Jackson as a rotational guy, and I like Jenkins, but he's in the BJ hill mold of a #2 DT more so than a #1 guy like Reader was. They need to find themselves a Reader. If they have too many questions about Nolen in round 1 - I can also see them likely Grant, from Michigan, a lot. Dude was on the super freaks list in college for his size, and would immediately bolster the run defense, while also adding solid pressure rates from college.
I think they look to sign Ossai back, and look at an edge in round 2, where you could see several guys there - maybe both OSU DE's, kid from LSU, etc...
I like that signing. We absolutely need to look to the draft to find some pass rush as none of our current d-line are going to move the needle much as pass rushers. On the other hand, this rotation has much better potential to hold up against the run than we had going into last year. The division still runs through Baltimore, so shoring up a run D was a priority and while nothing we did here is sexy, it puts us in position to raise the floor.TJ Slaton, 330lb NT from Green Bay has signed. Played under the new DL coach, and has been healthy.
Seems like this will take care of the DL other than some depth fodder. Jenkins/Hill are your rotation guys, and Slaton/MJ are your #1 DT/NT guys.
I'm going to guess is the hope that Jenkins develops into this in year 2...I think if they take another DT, it'll be later.Slaton at first glance is a poor man’s DJ Reader. Not a bad move at all.
Can’t rule out a pass rushing 3T in the draft. Walter Nolen would like great next him.
I’m inclined to agree unfortunately. I think what we see is what we will get on the interior barring anything unforeseen. Jenkins was a 2nd rounder which means he will get every opportunity to take that spot for better or worse.I'm going to guess is the hope that Jenkins develops into this in year 2...I think if they take another DT, it'll be later.
Chances are now, they will focus on DE, LB, and IOL...and with Washington trading for Tunsil, that takes them out of the Trey sweepstakes, and quite frankly - with how some of the other teams are spending...not sure they will budget for a 38-ish Million guy PLUS give up picks...but we'll see.
If this continues to play out - I would not be shocked if Trey is a Bengal this year and is a F/A next year. He could sit out - but he's going to be 31 this year...the history of guys who sit out and are able to come back and maintain their level of play is small, and even smaller if you are on the wrong side of 30.
