I still don't understand why Braylon was cut.

He was not arrested, didn't piss out any drugs for the NFL, etc.

I still think it sucks that he was let go for whatever reason.

wasn't it poor attitude?

IF it was, no matter the talent you have without a good attitude.

In our first meeting with the Giants, Edwards, Ginn & Walker accounted for 49% of our total offense & 64% of our passing offense. In addition, they also accounted for 64% of our passing 1st downs and 2 of the 3 3rd down conversions.

Between Swain, Hastings & Peelle someone or all three of those guys are going to need to make plays if Ginn & Walker can't go. It is my hope that at some point, preferably early, we all will go, "Ah, now I understand why we cut Braylon"

Ginn missed a large portion of the Saints game. What we were doing though was having Vernon Davis lined up wide or in the slot and Justin Peele took the normal tight end spot.

I think we will be fine. Delanie Walker should be back, but I just don't see him having much of an impact other than as a decoy.

As long as our replacements play well - I agree - if they don't, then that will be a different story.

Speaking of Braylon... man must suck for him... gets cut by his team at the last week(or 2nd to last) and now watches them play in the NFC title game...

damn...

I wonder if we will ever 'really' know why he was released...but you're right it must suck

My biggest concern, which I mentioned in another thread as well, is our O-line vs. their D-line. If the O-line can hold up to the 4 man rush and occasional blitzes, I have zero worries about us staying in the game.

I've been re-watching the Oct game (can't wait until tomorrow!), and as for our WR's, Alex hit 7-8 different receivers so we were able to spread it around. The Giants sat in their zone and our receivers were finding the seams.

The other thing I noticed was they used Ballard (he's a big dude) to clear space for Cruz and Manningham. It was a pick like move where Ballard would chip the end go straight down the field, and the WR would go behind him. That was an effective play and could go for a really big gain. The Giants know we're good tacklers and that play creates space.

One final note.....Eli can make some throws. Man he's got pinpoint accuracy when he's not under pressure. He started like 10-10. When we pressured him, his ball was not nearly as accurate. No surprises, but it just highlights we need to make him uncomfortable.

All this being said, I am by no means a film junkie. Just things that caught my eye when the game was not live and adrenaline is not rushing through my veins.

Great Post, '71! Good insights on the Ballard observation. I know we used Ginn in a similar 'clearing role' for throws in the middle. One thing about those types of routes, they take time to develop.

Thanks MW'. Can't wait until tomorrow. Ran all my errands today, hung out with the fam, got my work done, packed for my trip next week. I was a machine. Tomorrow I'm getting on the elliptical in the morning, getting a shower, and parking my butt at noon.

I almost had to travel tomorrow night....I was going nuts. It was a miscommunication on a meeting. If I would have travelled, missed the game, and then found out it was an error........

Ooo hoo, nice discount double check there, Seven-One! That would have sucked hugely!! Sounds like you have created a rather comfortable environment for which to watch the game - Nice!

Where do your travels take you next week?

I start ~40 days of heavy travel....Mpls, Brazil, China, Mpls, India. A fews days home here and there.....should be home for Super Bowl Sunday. I hope there's a real good reason to be home that day. ;)

Them be some crazy frequent flier miles you're racking up - Seven-One!

I hope the same!!! A little more than 25 hours from now and we will know...

With the heavy rain and 25 mph winds expected for tomorrow's game, I don't expect the passing game to be of much consequence for either team. A short pass game, yes. There will be a short passing game. But expect A LOT of forced turnovers by the Niners.
Slick, sloppy conditions favor two things; the running game and big defense.
The Giants don't have a running game. Advantage Niners.
The Giants D has a good front four but they are pass rushers not run stuffers. Again, advantage Niners.

It'll be a gloriously old school smash-mouth football game. I only wish the Superbowl could be played at the 'Stick too.
