Big Z out for a few months???

Pittsburgh's Big Z that is. Zybenek Michalek may have a serious shoulder injury that could set him back a few months. That is the speculation at least at this point. Regardless of the assumptions, the way he carried his shoulder certainly warrants a 'severe' tag. That means either a) dislocation b)separation (good God no...) c) subluxation or d)stinger. Let's be hopeful for D although based on reports of him going to the Doc, etc. it's not D. Basically Pens fans, brace yourself for a Gonch-like time away from the team.

Another note: Orpik is still out with a "groin injury", which management claims is NOT a side effect or lingering effect from his hernia surgery...however, it is possible to get bilateral hernias, and I'm hoping and praying it's NOT that. Because then we'd lose Orpik for about a month or so. And for some reason Comrie's a GTD tonight. Oi...Vey...

Tough one for Pittsburgh. In the game I saw this season (I think it was Pit vs. Phi), he was the best defenseman on both teams in my humble opinion. He's one of those guys that does everything well. Hopefully he'll be back soon.

I really wanted him on the Sharks (especially after all of the Phoenix games), but we may have burned that bridge with the Heatley trade.

We should know more tomorrow. He is getting checked out today but from the reports it looks to be something Long Term.
Scary to think of a D-core with Lovejoy, Engelland and Andrew Hutchinson playing at the same time. You must feel for any goalie that has to deal with that.
Look at the one positive Staal was out skating today during practice.

Without a doubt. The guy who tagged Orr was Engelland and he might be the worst D-man in the NHL. Yeah he can win a fight but can't play a body or stick in his defensive zone.

Yeah for the Eastern Conference if the Penguins don't start taking assignments, win faceoffs or stop pucks in their defensive zone it will be a long season.

Hot damn we're lucky. Big Z out only 2-4 weeks, Asham another 2 weeks or so, Sid and Max were only out for maintenance in practice today, Staal's ahead of schedule and skating, Orpik is day to day with the groin, Comrie wasn't injured. That looks a lot better than what we thought as of last night.
