Why torture yourself by thinking that this scenario is even a remote possibility?

How expensive could Bush and Landry be? I mean they may not be the 2 or 3 million dollar a year players that Brown likes in free agency, but they are not break the bank type players either, and we need to spend 99% of our cap this year or get penalized. Would Brown rather overpay for a couple players or give away money to the league as a penalty?

I don't think any of that is out of the question.

you need to remember good players don't actually want to be here.

Maybe, with making the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years, good players might actually think...I may be the piece that gets them over the hump, let's take a chance to play with guys like AJ Green, Geno Atkins, Burfict, Leon Hall, etc.

It's a well known fact across the NFL that the Bengals front office is run by retarded chimps. It's worth a million or two not to put up with the bullshit that goes on around here. The only clubs that someone might not prefer to us are Cleveland, JAX, K.C., and the dumb Jets, and at least 3 of those teams are taking steps to try and improve things.

Plenty of players would take a pay cut not to be here.
It's a fact, its why we've take on behavioral projects like Cedric Benson and Chad Johnson, and others I suppose.

You do know that we drafted Chad Johnson and we were offered essentially 2 1st rounders for him. Not a good comparison. Players will come here if we keep winning. That's all it takes.

This is generally true, but if the deals are identical, I think a player might opt to go elsewhere because of Brown's reputation. so the Bengals will have to play a bit over market value, which shouldn't be the case with the young talent already on the team

yea, we were offered 2 picks for him, but later on, we only got like a 4th rounder for him, eventually no one wanted him, before that, very few teams wanted him because he was a nuisance. We held on to him way too long. Yes, he had good years, but again, this team doesn't look at this as a business, unless they are pocketing cash.

What is the fascination with Reggie Bush. He's a running back that will be 28 when the season starts and will be playing his 8th season of NFL football.... At his best he was a glorified third down back that struggled to rush for over 4 yards per carry on teams that were loaded with passing weapons. He had one very good year in Miami two seasons ago and a somewhat pedestrian season this year.

my thinking is he would get injured and all that money would be wasted. best to get a rb with a moderate draft pick.

I guess I can agree with that. Just hard to sity pat amd watch Scott as the #2 back when he can never stay healthy enough to stay on the field to help this team.

Draft a running back in the first three rounds.... Split time between the new guy and the Firm. If the new guy stinks, draft someone the next year. Recycled running backs aren't the answer -- With the exception of a few special players, I think running back is a position that you need to replace every three or four years.

Bush has had 1000 yards each of the past 2 yards while averaging 5 ypc and 4.3 ypc. He also adds in about 50 catches a year and doesn't have a lot of wear on his legs. I'd rather get him and save those draft picks for other positions.

To be fair, he had 986 yards - Basically had a thousand.......

He's had one 1K season in his career and has played a full 16 games twice. Over the past two seasons he has had significantly more carries than he did during his 'typical' seasons in New Orleans. I think he's heading for a break-down and I don't want anything to do with him.

Headed for a breakdown based on what? He has had just over 200 carries each of the past 2 years. Now exactly running 30 times a game. I'd say he has 2-3 real good years left in him. Give him a 3 year deal. We have a lot of holes on this team and we can't draft them all. I'd rather sign a RB than draft 1.

That is what I was originally thinking also. As there are no real good RB's in this years draft class, but if I was to draft one, I would want the guy you hate.

Take some positions of need and best available to keep building up the team. DT is obviously not going to be drafted, as we have a large surplus.

If you are able to get a 3rd down back/change of pace back like Bush who has good hands, that would make sense to team with BJGE, as he is still goign to remain our starting RB, even if we draft one, so may as well pick Bush up for the backup for a two to three years. He will not be an every down back, but would be that guy that Scott has never stayed healthy enough to be.

This is the most he has played in back-to-back seasons in his entire career. And he's had durability concerns in the past. Someone is going to pour some hot sauce on him.

I dot think he would get those kinds of carries here though. You are looking at probably 10-12 carries a game.
