I know a lot of the 1 seeds have been dropping out early in quite a few of these conference tournaments, but Weber State should take this thing. They've definitely been the best overall team in the league this year. Conference MVP and defensive player of the year Joel Bolomboy is a beast averaging 17 and 12 a game.

Other teams with a shot to make some noise or even win the tourney:

Montana always has a solid squad and should have an easy walk to the semifinals after their match-up with Portland State. The Griz had a rough start to the season but went 14-4 in conference play, although two of their losses came in the final 3 games of the season. 1st team all conference forward Martin Breunig nearly averages a double double.

Idaho finished with their first 20 win season in over 20 years despite being without their top two scorers for a long stretch in the middle of the season. This is a scrappy team that beats you with depth, rebounding, and defense. Interesting fact about the Vandals this year: They're 6-1 against the top six in the conference and 6-5 against everybody else. Teams might be scared to match-up with Idaho right now if coach Don Verlin wasn't a putrid 2-7 all time in conference tournaments.

Idaho State had a huge turn around year. Ethan Telfair came out of nowhere this to earn 1st team all conference honors. Like Idaho, ISU can knock off the top teams in the league but could just as easily lose to one of the worst. If they can get past North Dakota their match-up with Weber State should prove to be pretty entertaining. The Bengals split the season series with the Wildcats.

Eastern Washington won the tournament last year after defeating Montana in Missoula, and it's very possible this year's team has an even better offense than than last year's. If the Eagles get hot shooting they can beat any team in the conference. Four players average over 10 ppg and senior Jenky Vois is third in the nation in FG percentage. Defensively they have struggled at times, but when they're rolling this team is hard to keep up with.

Weber State edges out Portland State 78-74 in the early game. North Dakota currently hammering Idaho State 46-17 at half time.

They had some decent alternative choices but somehow Fighting Hawks was the mascot that won the vote they had. I believe they still sell Fighting Sioux apparel in Grand Forks however.

As for the basketball team, that Hooker is a beast.
