Also, I am also a little surprised by this contract. You would think that the core of the Hawks would look at the Cup they won, and want more... they would also look at all the depth that was jettisoned due to the cap and be willing to take some sort of a discount. Seabrook is a great defenseman and he's not at his peak yet, but he's never going to win a Norris. A lot of his point production comes from having Keith feeding him, too. Now, if Campbell wasn't signed to his atrocious deal the Seabrook deal wouldn't be nearly as bad. But now they've got a shitload of money tied up in three defensemen, and only one of them is really worth what he's getting. Hjamlersson is having an off year, I see him rebounding, but they are going to have even more depth problems next year. I'm just really surprised they couldn't work out a deal that was a little closer to $4 million a year.

Hopefully the Sharks win a Cup this year... there are a lot of Sharks fans on these boards, but they are getting very unbalanced and I'm worried about their sanity.

Don't single out SlimPikens like that! It's rude.

on the other hand, if everybody else in Chicago has been cashing in, why the heck would Seabrook be the one to sacrifice.
it kind of only works if everyone buys in, not just the last guy to the table.

If they want to destroy their salary cap situation you won't hear me complaining. :D

Just read about the contract and I'm a little bit shocked.

This leaves the Hawks with $10 milion to sign 6-7 forwards, a defenseman, and two goalies. Tough sledding, especially since they are locked into that scenario for about 3 more seasons.

Wow. 10 mill for two goalies along with all the rest of that? That's...horrible.

"How about our core? Man, that's a good core of players. Core. Core. Core..."

That's neat and all, but you need a team to win the Cup. Not just the center of one. Bottom line.
